Pit bulls are still outlaws in Miami-Dade County.
Voters overwhelming opted to keep a 1989 ban on American Staffordshire terriers, Staffordshire bull terriers and high-content mixes of both.
The fight does not end here, said Debi Day, an activist with No Kill Nation. Plans B, C and D will go into effect immediately. We will not let the pit bulls and their owners be forever victim to this discriminatory law.

I think Plan B is for them to register their dogs as “gay” or,better still,”transgendered”.
My cat was killed by a pit here in FL. I consider the owner at fault, not the dog.
I thank God that my poor cat was the victim, rather than some innocent child. From what I understand the dog still roams around, a giant dog, unneutered. It will kill something else.
I don’t know where the owner lives, but I can tell you this. If that dog comes near me or my house I will kill it. I am scared to death of that thing. But it will be the owner’s fault. Like guns, when pits are outlawed, only outlaws have pits.
We will not let the pit bulls and their owners be forever victim to this discriminatory law.
If they have been outlawed since 1989 there shouldn’t be any pits or their owners around there.
There are a lot of good dog breeds. Pit Bull owners only wish to frighten their neighbors anyway, get a Doberman.
There's a reason for some action!
This dog encouraged the other neighbors dog to do the same. So that is two of their five dogs.
We have fed and made friends with all the neigborhood dogs and have repeatedly tried this with these dogs as well. We are fearful on our own property and for the wife's job as she is a nurse and needs her hands.
What would you advise us to do?
Shoot the dog and tell the police you were in fear of great bodily harm.
I read an article once, describing how a conceal carry citizen was walking his little dog somewhere and a pit bull come running full throttle across a yard to attack his little dog. The citizen whipped out a Kel Tec PF9 and nailed that pit with 5ea 9mm’s. It took 5 to take it down with a 10 round mag.
For $350 you can buy a good pit bull repellent:-)
I emptied the clip of a 1911 into a dangerous Pitt Bull on my property.
The dog had attacked me a few days before, I beat it off with a shovel...took several blows to its head to stop it.
I borrowed the 1911 from a good friend, he had to show me how to operate it.
I dreaded killing the beast but I just had a feeling it was going to attack some local child.... I felt it was my duty.
It came back, I knew it would, my friend had loaded the gun with alternating bullets and 45 cal shells that were like tiny shotgun rounds.
I buried it where it fell.
Very interesting. Those shells were most likely birdshot, which isn’t very lethal to a dog like that, normally speaking. You were lucky to take it down, very lucky. Glad your ok.
Our freedoms are attacked daily, one, our Christian beliefs as example.
Several years ago there was a Tampa story about a pit that attacked an elderly woman on her front walk. A citizen came up and shot it, while another was running back in the house for HIS piece.
This is FL. I love it.
The problem is the same one with illegal guns. Do you really think the thugs are going to “bond” their creepy dogs? Only the good owners with decently bred animals will do that.
The problem is the culture, which this world values as “cool”. But when people come out against it, they are branded as “racist”.
