GARY, Ind. (AP) - The city of Gary is offering gift cards worth $50 to $100 for guns as a way to try to prevent violence.
The Post-Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/TD3QLt ) police officers will be at nine churches on Saturday giving out Wal-Mart gift cards. People bringing in handguns will receive $50 in gift cards. Shotguns are worth $75 and assault-type rifles are worth $100.

If I were in Indiana, I would be looking at one of these locations with cash in hand.
Private sales are legal in Indiana.
These turn ins are political theater designed to delegitimize armed citizens. Their practical effects are to defraud widows, increase demand for new gun, and wast police resources.
Eric Holder will have a couple vans parked out back, destination Mehico.
A hundred bucks???
My kid’s airsoft gun is worth three times that.
“buy back”...did Gary originally sell these firearms? No, it is a purchase, not a buy back.
IMO, given most all of the politicians we have these days and what low esteem they are held by the public, they might consider upping the ante regarding the purchase prices, say about 5 fold.
It would seem like city government using churches for their government political events would be a violation of the First Amendment. Where’s the aCLU?
Cities declaring bankruptcy everywhere, but using taxpayer money to buy mostly junk, and stolen firearms. Kinda hard to feel sympathetic to them. Ought to tell the city employees that when they don’t get a scheduled raise “because the city can’t afford it” that the city bought scrap guns with the money....
“Any working gun is worth more than $50.”
It’s a good way to get rid of, and get something for the old Non-working junkers one might have. :)
How can it be a buy back? Did the government sell the firearms in question? No.
So what are they taking back?
It can only apply to the idea that the government is buying back a privilege which they originally dispensed. But of course, our rights did not come from the government and therefore cannot be bought back.
These events should instead by labeled:
“Keeping guns out of the hands of negroes police buy-back”.
While Gary is a short hop from Chicago, so is being influenced by their disease, I am sure their black people have been convinced by radicals that white people hate them. So why not use that paranoia to help them?
The racist roots of gun control have been writen about extensively.
Another possible label would be: “Black woman disarmament”
and assault-type rifles are worth $100.
What the heck is an assault -TYPE rifle??
This term needs to be banned from use as it is meaningless and only used as part of a scare tactic.
It would seem like city government using churches for their government political events would be a violation of the First Amendment. Wheres the aCLU?
Communist love to take guns away from citizens, They will use anyplace they can........
If my Church allowed itself to be used like this I would resign my membership immediately.
If it was said more crudely than that, I bet it would really hit home.
For example, referring to “biatches” and “’ho’s”. I’m sure black women would be thrilled to death with that.
“My ‘ho’ don’t need no guns! I don’ beat her less she need it! So I givin’ her guns to the cops!”
