For the first time since he began running for president, Republican Mitt Romney has the support of over 40 percent of America's youth vote, a troubling sign for President Obama who built his 2008 victory with the overwhelming support of younger, idealistic voters.
Pollster John Zogby of JZ Analytics told Secrets Tuesday that Romney received 41 percent in his weekend poll of 1,117 likely voters, for the first time crossing the 40 percent mark. What's more, he said that Romney is the only Republican of those who competed in the primaries to score so high among 18-29 year olds.
"This is the first time I am seeing Romney's numbers this high among 18-29 year olds," said Zogby. "This could be trouble for Obama who needs every young voter he can get."

If that holds up Obama will be DOA.
It won’t. Look for the massive Student Loan Forgiveness scheme to be unveiled by October.
Ryan can help tremendously with this age group. He is young enough, and looks young enough to identify with 20 somethings. He also speaks a message that should resonate with thinking young adults.
Obama isn’t going to know what hit him on election day.
I guess four years without a job has a way of killing that youthful idealism...
Ryan is a perfect pic.
Metalhead, workout fanatic, clean, vigorous, knows about John stewart, talks about the crippling debt, etc.
If the voter fraud is minimized, we’ll be all right; HOWEVER, never underestimate the ability of significant numbers of Demonrats to lie, cheat, fabricate and stuff ballot boxes.
Looks like Obama’s spent too much time on the homosexual marriage and Seniors and not enough spent talking about jobs and gas prices.
Oops... I forgot “It worked”
A lot of economic despair out there from Gen x and youth right now.
Landslide = proof that America is still racist
Watch for it. Better yet, state it, repeatedly, way before hand so we can mock them when they say it.
They were sold a bill of goods all shiny & packaged for sale. It won't happen again.
It’s hip to be square.
I consider myself part of the Reagan youth.
I think we will see a new wave in favor fo the GOP seeking jobs, etc.
My daughter voted for McCain/Palin. (Bought Palin’s book and even went to a live event in Texas.)
My son will be old enough to vote for the first time this election and he’s not even hesitating...
“Romney.”
My daughter is a strong, opinionated conservative. My son is too, but he doesn’t follow politics.
For him, the bottom line is JOBS. He’s dying for an oil boom so he can use his machinist skills for maximum gain.
I want to see the punk prez thrown out but Zogby is a liar and a con man who for years has put out offbeat surprising polls apparently in order to keep his name in the arena.
Toward the end of an election cycle his zany results tend to dial in and match, or nearly so, more reliable pollsters though Zogby always leans left.
His brother is the Muzzie founder of the Arab America Institute, a CAIR supporter and a DNC committeeman. They both are traitorous liars.
Imagine some college idiot campaigning for obama? LOL - i would just laugh at that person.
“imagine some college idiot campaigning for obama”
I agree.
But I live near a college town (in a conservative state) and there are a lot of them out there.
They are raised wrong and taught wrong and they believe the little thug’s bitter lies.
They darn tootin’ should vote against Obama if they hope to have any jobs in the private sector upon leaving school...
I think Obama probably will attempt to buy their votes with loan forgiveness, but I'm not so sure it won't do more harm than good for his campaign. Not all the young have college loans to pay back.
The action would be a true gift to the Romney campaign, and bring the conversation to the out of control spending that Obama has been engaged in.
It will be seen for what it is-a cynical pander-and will further energize conservatives and independents, IMHO.
Its obvious to anyone with a few neurons and not trapped inside the beltway that Obama is going to be voted out of office by the largest margin since Herbert Hoover, and very likely get even a lower vote total than HOOVER did.
It is also blindingly obvious that democrats all down the TIcket will also be routed. This election is going to make 1994 look like a good day for democrats.
Now, don’t get cocky, fight hard, fight like its a 50-50 race... but I fully expect the day after the election we will have 60+ senate seats, control of the house and the white house.
By October no one will be even seriously arguing OBama can win the White House, other than the hard core leftist pundits and they will only be doing it because they are being paid to, they won’t believe a word they are spewing. The serious discussion will be whether or not the Republicans get 60+ Senate seats.
