Try this thought experiment. Imagine that someone grows up in poverty, works his way through law school by holding the night shift as a Capitol Hill policeman, and spends all but two years of his career as a public servant. Now imagine that this persons current salary and hes at the top of his game is $193,400. You probably wouldnt expect him to have millions in stocks, bonds, and real estate.
But, surprise, he does, if hes our Senate majority leader, whose net worth is between 3 and 10 million dollars, according to OpenSecrets.org. When Harry Reid entered the Nevada legislature in 1982, his net worth was listed as between $1 million and $1.5 million or more, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. So, since inquiring minds inquire, lets try to figure out how Reids career in public service ended up being so lucrative

Crony capitalism, pay to play Poster child.
While we are on the subject, how did Barry Obama and Nancy Pelosi get rich?
Lying, Cheating, Stealing.....
Did he use S & H Green Stamps?
Or did he trade on inside information, as did hundreds of members of Congress?
Did you think he took bribes disguised as campaign contributions?
GASP! Surely not! This is a Democrat politician we are talking about.
Reid must have simply won life's lottery. I am sure that he will be giving all of his winnings to the government to redistribute to the poor any day now.
The man is a criminal. Through and through. Just like Nancy Pelosi and most of the Dem party leadership.
Betsy’s article is just the opening shot. I wrote Harry Reid’s on;y biography and trust me, he has been on the take since the early 70s. The amount of corruption is unbelievable.
Reid is going to wish he’d kept his mouth shut.
Chairman of the Nevada Gamming Commission...
Harry Reid got rich pandering (selling out) to what ever group he needed to pander to at any given time. He has no moral compass! none!
Harry Reid: illegal aliens free loaders and scam artists
OH! THE IRONY!
Reid, now an impassioned champion of amnesty for 20 million illegal aliens in America, once called illegal aliens free loaders and scam artists which he proposed to deal with in his Immigration Stabilization Act in the United States Senate in 1993.
That proposed legislation was introduced to the floor of the US Senate with the following press release, in part, issued by Reids office on August 5, 1993.
In response to increased terrorism and abuse of social programs by aliens, (I) today introduced the first and only comprehensive immigration reform bill in Congress. Currently, an alien living illegally in the United States often pays no taxes but receives unemployment, welfare, free medical care, and other federal benefits. Recent terrorist acts, including the World Trade Center bombing, have underscored the need to keep violent criminals out of the country.
Prove me wrong DUmmie lurkers.
His net worth on entering politics FIFTY YEARS AGO has increased 200-1000%. To go from 1M to 8M (800%) in 50 years would only require a doubling every 17 years, which would be possible in any savings account with a mere 2.5% rate (a bit more factoring in taxes). Hardly a worthwhile argument for corruption there.
Better check your math. According to the article, his net worth was $1M in 1982. That was THIRTY YEARS AGO not FIFTY YEARS AGO. To go from $1M to $8M in 30 years would require that his savings double in value ever ten years.
Do you know anyone whose savings have doubled every ten years for the past 30 years? Do you know anyone whose savings have doubled in the past 10 years? I don't. I would be happy if my net worth had even increased in the past 10 years.
Of course, maybe Reid is just a phenomenally good investor. He should release all of his tax returns for the past 30 years so we can see.
Where did he get that $1 million in the first place being on the gaming commission?
Well one thing is for sure: ‘He didn’t earn that’!!
