Republican challenger Josh Mandel now runs even with incumbent Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown in Ohio’s U.S. Senate race.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Ohio shows Mandel and Brown each earning 44% support. Three percent (3%) favor some other candidate in the contest, and nine percent (9%) are undecided.

The attention in Ohio has been focused on the national ticket but this Rasmussen Reports finding of a TIE in the Senate race there is significant. Just a few weeks ago, Mandel was reported to be 10 points behind Brown...and now this.

Ryan effect?

Yea or nay, this is still very welcome news. How Ohioans could find any attraction to that liberal POS is beyond me.

I regret that I was singularly unimpressed with Mandel during a recent radio interview - he had Pawlenty disease with his repetitive phrases.

Still, Sherrod Brown is a new low for the state that kept Metzenbaum in office all those years - the only way to go is up, although Buckeye Republicans are genetically predisposed to RINO disease.

I’ve assumed for two years that Brown would lose his reelection bid, and lose by a decent margin. I’m more confident of that than ever.

Another YOUNG and VERY SERIOUS CONSERVATIVE possible Senator.

Dang, if we win this one, DeMint and Co. are going to start looking pretty strong!

The class of 80 was very strong ideologically. But their intellectual firepower and professionalism wasn’t really there. That’s why so many lost in 86. But these guys are all really good. Young, aggressive, conservative Senators. Might well save the country.

I’ve been trying to tell folks, its going to be a bloodbath election for the Dems... The presidential race is not going to be close, and by October the real discussion other than the die in the wool kool-aid drinkers will be whether or not the Republicans get 60+ seats in the Senate.

Pelosi,Reid and Obama have collectively led the Democratic party off a demographic cliff. They have turned the working class white voter completely against the party.. The reprocussions are going to be felt all the way down the ticket. If you are a dem, and are from anything less than the bluest of blue districts, you should be incredibly afraid, because odds are you won’t be returning to Washington in 2013.

Reagan was 9 points behind Carter in Ohio at this stage in 1980. Romney/Ryan is doing just fine in Ohio.

I partially agree. I don’t think the Republicans will reach 60 in the Senate, but the good thing is that they will be a more conservative group than before. This will help to keep Romney in check.
