A Romney first: over 40% of youth vote back him
The Washington Examiner ^ | 08/15/12 | Paul Bedard

Posted on 08/15/2012 7:19:44 AM PDT by TonyInOhio

For the first time since he began running for president, Republican Mitt Romney has the support of over 40 percent of America's youth vote, a troubling sign for President Obama who built his 2008 victory with the overwhelming support of younger, idealistic voters.

Pollster John Zogby of JZ Analytics told Secrets Tuesday that Romney received 41 percent in his weekend poll of 1,117 likely voters, for the first time crossing the 40 percent mark. What's more, he said that Romney is the only Republican of those who competed in the primaries to score so high among 18-29 year olds.

is is the first time I am seeing Romney's numbers this high among 18-29 year olds," said Zogby. "This could be trouble for Obama who needs every young voter he can get."

Zogby helped Secrets dig deeper into his weekend poll, which we reported on earlier. The poll had Romney and Obama tied at 46 percent.

I’m so thankful he picked Paul Ryan . . . I was really dreading him picking Pawlenty or Portman.

My prayers were answered. Now for a win on November 6th and life will be very good again.

The stock market could rise 1,000 points on November 7th.
AND
maybe another 1,000 on November 8th as the country rejoices that Obama was DEFEATED.

Young people have realized they wrecked their own future by voting Obama in 2008.

The student loans are past due, and they can’t get out of mommy’s basement.

If Romney/Ryan wins and Republican win the Senate, the economy will take off like a rocket.

All the pent up business investment capital will be released.

The youngest Millennials, 14-17 in 2008, didn’t get to vote for Obama. They just saw the hype for this? Their older siblings, now 22-29 fubared things up and their mess needs to be cleaned up. That’s not to mention buyer’s remorse from some.

No. Read the source. 49%. If Obama only takes 8% more of that demographic that is going to be a huge problem for him. He’s maxed out in the victim groups already.

This has got to be mostly a Ryan bump.

"They want change," said Zogby.

Uh, kids, I wish you had a better reason. Yes, I want a change because I NEVER wanted obama in the first place. Some of you, however, did and now you want to go to a somewhat more conservative team that disagrees with obama in a number of ideals.

Are you telling us you learned something about "progressives" or do you just want a change, as in a different color car?

As I said to someone here on FreeRepublic on a recent thread about senior citizens voting for Obama ...

For every senior citizen who votes for Obama because he/she thinks Romney/Ryan are going to "take away their Medicare," there are 2-3 younger people who voted for Obama in 2008 but don't give a sh!t about Medicare -- or Obama -- because they haven't been gainfully employed since Obama was inaugurated and now find themselves in their mid-20s with no serious career prospects on the horizon.

That is why he is going to propose a massive Student Loan Forgiveness program within the next 60 days. This will be an irresistible draw to the youth vote.

Another vote-buying scam that many will see through, particularly if the Romney/Ryan economic message hits the mark. Ryan's popularity with this voter demographic puts him in perfect position to spotlight the destructive effect Obama's excess will have on their economic futures.

This is going to be a close election.

Sad, considering the marxist-inspired economic mess Obama proudly presides over.

Enough of the Hannity/FR talking points. No one---not even Rush---thinks that fraud can decide a vote, especially if it's not close. This one won't be.

What statistics, or real evidence do you have, to support your case? None. Just some hysterics.

Now, I'll repeat to you what I know first hand, because I'm on a college campus 9 months of the year and I speak across the country to college aged kids. This is what I see and this is what they tell me:

1) In 08, there was a huge white guilt/hip vote for Obama among this age group.

2) Those voters IMMEDIATELY abandoned the Obama platform (TARP, stimulus, even health care). All they cared about was "voting for the younger black guy." Been there, done that. They were off the bandwagon by the end of the summer 09. I could tell clearly by the reactions in classes.

There is NOTHING like the 08 enthusiasm among these students. NOTHING. The #s are back to about where they were when Bush won twice, with all those silly groups you mention.

Now, get your head out of the ground and get to work. This is not only winnable, but it's winnable in a landslide with the kinds of numbers I'm seeing.

60% of 18-29 year olds get their news from Stewart and Colbert. They are naive and idealistic, impressionable young progressives yearning for Hope and Change.

You know ... morons.

Are you implying that it’s not OK for a white woman to love a black guy?

When it's available (I think later today), download the podcast from today's (8/15) Chris Plante show from radio station WMAL:

Chris Plante Podcasts

The discussion topic was Joe Biden's comment to a black audience about how Romney was going to "Put y'all back in chains!". At about the 2nd hour, Chris got a call from a black student from University of Maryland who had been totally indoctrinated on leftist politics. It was an amazing conversation between Chris and the caller.

Keep listening, though, because Chris also gets some very encouraging calls from some terrific black Republicans.

True, but last time, Obama got 66% of that demographic, so this is GOOD news! And the more of them who find getting a job difficult in this economy, that will be even MORE votes for Romney/Ryan!

He’s in deep, deep trouble.

I'd feel better if the polls reflected this. I know there are SOME polls that are legit (not biased either to the right or the left).

Young voters see what the rest of us see - their future freedom and prosperity being purposefully destroyed day-by-day by this Administration. They will vote accordingly.

If somebody doesn’t do something about their loans and quickly, the generation larger than the Baby Boomers is going to have equal hate for both sides and that does not bode well for the future of the nation.

Just as Reagan turned Carter's own "Misery Index" as a weapon against Carter and his record, so Romney and Ryan, if they're smart, will use Obama's "hope and change" on Obama.

Something like, "We represent the brightest hope for positive change in America. There's no hope with Obama and America desperately needs a change in who is occupying the White House."
