Moochelle Obama is a hypocrite. Didn’t she say that Americans need to eat healthier? Well, start with the welfare freeloaders. No free sweets for them on my dime!
It’s free! Swipe yo EBT.”
Good for her. No way food stamps should be used for anything other than the basics.
She was on Howie Carr today for an hour. Her pie shop is 2 miles from me and I’m going over there this weekend.
Where my pie? LOL
Dear Ms. Taber,
I was sent the link to your businesses web page recently by a friend, and was most impressed that your website had messages of support in word and deed for our troops (25% off, God bless you!) admiring your support of our troops without knowing why he sent me the link.
But I did not know you were embroiled in a controversy about EBT cards (only finding out tonight) with the misuse of these types of entitlements being of great interest to me these past several months. I hear you have taken what I deem to be the appropriate stance, and will support you by purchasing your products wherever I can. (being a scratch pie-maker myself, I am always eager to test my fare against people who know what they are doing!)
I understand this has nothing to do with any kind of discrimination against people who are underprivileged, and everything to do with the appropriate use of government money, money which you have paid through your hard work in building your own business. I hope to meet you and shake your hand someday, as people in our world today seem to be as full of talk as they are empty of action.
If I can ever be of assistance in any show of public support for you, or financial help if you have legal difficulties for making this stand, do not hesitate to contact me via this email address. I may not be able to give much, if it comes to that, but I will give what I can in your support. I can't tell you how uplifting it is to see someone take a principled and correct stand, even to their own financial detriment.
And, since I live close enough...I hope to taste those pies soon!
There is a sign at the self check-out counter of my local store that says EBT card purchases are limited to $60 cash back.
CASH BACK!!!!
So now they can buy their cigs, booze and weed.
Vacuum pack, freeze and ship in styrofoam core box...I’ll take three large ones...apple, cherry and peach.
I’ll supply the ice cream...
Andrea Taber, along with sons Daniel and Timothy, manufactures ready-to-bake.
Twenty-five years as a nurse had left the Sharon resident burnt out on the profession and casting about for a new career. She decided to focus on her lifelong love of baking, and in 1999, Taber began baking pies out of her kitchen as she made the transition from health care. In 2001 she decided to do her own thing, which led to the opening in 2002 of Ever So Humble Pie Co. in a century-old industrial building in East Walpole.
It was a big move, and a scary one. I could have made serious money (in nursing), but I was just burnt out, she said.
Don’t you need to sign up, register, and pay fess to accept EBT payments?
Let Michelle pay for their pies..
Interesting form of Atlas shrugging. It would be nice if more businesses followed her example. Imagine a nation-wide trend of business owners no longer accepting EBT cards.

She is sacrificing profit for principal. That is laudable in this day and age. That is very rare. It is a rare thing to see someone in a struggling business in a down economy turn down an opportunity to increase sales volume just out of moral principal. Amazing. She could be profiting off government money, yet she refuses.
I would call her “heroic”. Her sacrifice definitely has a nobility of purpose.
I worked for a large supermarket chain in MA for a few years. In stores in/near major cities (Springfield, Boston, Worcester, etc.) it was not uncommon to see people buying $40+ dollar cakes, deli platters, etc. with EBT cards.
I always wanted to ask if I was invited to their subsided apartment in the ghetto since I paid for it.
