Executive order from Governor Jan Brewer blocks IDs, benefits for illegal immigrants

PHOENIX - Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer has signed an executive order directing state agencies to deny driver's licenses and other public benefits to young illegal immigrants who obtain work authorizations under a new Obama administration ((back-door amnesty)) program.

After the order was issued, supporters of the program and the DREAM Act took to the streets of Phoenix in protest. Video from Air15 showed the protesters carrying signs and walking down Central Avenue toward the State Capitol.

Brewer's Wednesday order says she's reaffirming the intent of current Arizona law denying taxpayer-funded public benefits and state identification to illegal immigrants.

Young illegal immigrants could start applying Wednesday with the federal government for work permits under the Obama administration's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.

Brewer's Wednesday order says she's reaffirming the intent of current Arizona law denying taxpayer-funded public benefits and state identification to illegal immigrants.

It's a good idea. Why don't these folks go to an illegal friendly state like California instead? They can get everything for free there. Why stay in Arizona where they're not welcome?
Sure, California is broke, but if you're going to dance with the liberal devil, you're going to get burnt.

Governor Brewer is my governor, but I would say that, sadly, she is not presidential. Bless her heart, I love her to death, but she doesn’t have the smooth, quick manner of a U.S. president.

Of course, If Bolton isn't available for Sec of State I might change my mind.

It does create an interesting issue for the upcoming election. I wonder what sorts of sound-bites it'll produce for Romney attack ads? If the Romney crew has the courage to use them, that is.

Yep,

http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2012/06/26/us/scotus-immigrationlaw-analysis.html

keeping in mind the SCOTUS recently ruled that the executive branch could ignore federal law.
And see the SCOTUS ruling on the so-called `Affordable Care Act’ and Kelo.

The only reason it narrowly ruled for Heller in his suit against DC is that five of them knew that if they didn’t, we would be in DC and they would ... not.
And as far as a lot of Americans are concerned, that possibility is still on the table. We’ll see how it goes.

Think Arizona needs Brewer more, right now. Would like to see Brewer as Head of Justice or Homeland Security; Allen West as Sec./Defense Department and John Bolton as Sec. of State and. Marco Rubio as Senate Majority Leader.

While plenty of fainthearted Repubs in evidence; we need the lions-only, moving forward. . .

Kevno; perhaps you have not noticed, the new 'paradigm' we have moved into?

This is not the '1930's - at least not as they were in America, that is.

Germany, however; was in the grips of their own National Socialist Party - interestingly and as well - with their similar acquiescence and 'reach out' to Islamists; just as is our 'national' Socialist Party doing same today. (Muftis; Imams; Muslim Brotherhood; CAIR; all a part of Obama,Inc./Dem family).

America's totalitarians; repped by today's Democrat Party; obsessive by their own conceit; all but howl with the power they now hold in Washington and in our White House. By agenda; they are inserting themselves into every private, personal; political and civil aspect of American life; while impacting all individual/personal freedoms in America per their guarantee of 'fundamental change'.

They are for all intents/purposes/goals;doing a 'fast shred' of America's Constitution; as they must; as per any great 'heist' in history; time is critical to maximize their goals. Up till now; these people have had to be; 'very patient'. Now 'Change'; is in their grasp. . .

Why not follow that common thread; Kevmo; (and others who share you perspective) Easier than your suggestion above; as you will not need any 'hypothetical' for your your effort.

As we are at critical juncture; fervently hope, that you; and all like-minded; step up to the plate.

These illegals need to go the F home, IMO. Enough of them coming here and taking from, and living off, the backs of hard working people. NO MORE FREE STUFF....you got that???

I LOVE that Jan has done this and I am happy we FINALLY have someone not only standing up this regime, but doing what is RIGHT to protect the state and people of the state.

I seriously would like to hear though, from a qualified, knowledgable attorney, what the standing is for Brewers EO compared to Obama’s EO, as in, does AZ have a leg to stand on (or more) to enforce this? I certainly pray so.
