Former Gov. Tommy Thompson took a major step in his political comeback Tuesday, winning a four-way Republican primary for an open U.S. Senate seat and setting up a sure-to-be nationally showcased November battle with Democrat Tammy Baldwin.

The Thompson-Baldwin contest will feature two candidates who are ideological opposites. On top of that, if the 50-year-old Baldwin prevails she would become the first openly gay member of the Senate.

You can bet the homosexuals will be making the Wisconsin race all about Baldwin being a lesbian.

Thompson may not be a real Tea Partier, but he is going to be a better Senator than leftist Tammy.

If Tommy doesn’t blow Tammy out of the water in November It would be a real surprize.

Tammy’s base is Madison, Tommy is well known over the whole state.

Amen to that...... Tommy was not my first choice, but with three candidates to the right of him to split the real conservative vote, we get Tommy. And that’s OK! Nice to have had 4 excellent candidates, actually.

Yes, here in WI EVERYONE knows Tommy - I’ll give him that. And already, I agree - it’s all about the Gay/Lesbian “how wonderful it is”. The left wants us to “stay out of their bedroom” but they want to shove their adgenda at us 24/7. JUST STOP - Do what you want in your own bedroom - stay out of my face with this garbage.

GO TOMMY - I hope you mop the floor with Tammy on Nov. 6.

If Thomspon wins, is this a pick up for us or are we holding onto the seat?

It's a net gain. The seat is being vacated by retiring democrat Herb Kohl.

Lots of Tommy signs in Wood and Juneau counties. Tommy is viewed as moderate. Tammy on the other hand is viewed as extreme left.

If Tommy Thompson wins the Senate race in WI in November YES this is a PICK UP for the GOP. Democrat Senator Herb Kohl is retiring.

Plus - we’re the ones who dumped Dem. Russ Feingold in 2010 for our terrific (IMHO) Sen. Ron Johnson. Wisconsin is on a roll, folks - and we’re darn proud of it.

So, YES, we hope to gain a GOP seat in November.

Agreed. Conservatives will need to watch him like a hawk to keep him on message, but he’s better than TB.
