FWIW, In the riding classes I have taken, “I had to lay it down” is rider-speak for “I panicked”. Evasive maneuvers are all about NOT laying the bike down.

Unless there are parked cars on your right and oncoming traffic on your left.

Up is not an option either.

No kidding, Always, always brake until impact and look for an escape route while braking. Laying her down is what you do with a woman, not a motorcycle.

Thank you for that post. Purposely laying a bike down is the poorest avoidance maneuver I can imagine.
