Top Five Biden Race Gaffes (Vice President has history of racially insensitive rhetoric)

Vice President Joe Biden is currently under fire for adopting a drawl and telling a group of black supporters that Republicans “gonna put ya’ll back in chains.” But this is not the first time the vice president has been dogged by offensive remarks.

ONE. Biden kicked off his 2007 White House run by condescending to his current running mate, saying that then-Sen. Barack Obama was the “first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.”

He later apologized for the incident—but his penchant for crossing the line stuck with him on the campaign trail.

TWO. Biden falsely boasted that Delaware was a slave state to explain why he would remain competitive in southern primaries.

“You don’t know my state. My state was a slave state … my state is the 8th largest black population in the country,” he said.

The nation’s first black governor, Virginia’s Douglas Wilder, recently blasted Biden for engaging in racially charged rhetoric. The Daily Mail reports:

‘Slavery is nothing to joke about. And the history of this nation’s involvement with slavery is nothing to pass off in a joke.’

Suggesting that Biden was a liability to Obama, he added that ‘you can’t continue to make gaffe after gaffe after gaffe and believe that it’s going to be supportive of what you and the president are both trying to do’.

THREE. Biden’s treatment of Indian-Americans has earned him plenty of criticism. In 2006, he told an Indian-American supporter that “you cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I’m not joking.”

FOUR. The vice president decided to practice that accent on the campaign trail in 2012. In a speech criticizing Mitt Romney for outsourcing, Biden donned an Indian accent to mock the notion of Indians trying to speak English.

“How many times you get the call, ‘I like to talk to you about your … credit card,” he said, abandoning the mock accent. “It’s a little over done.”

Biden did not mention that the Obama campaign has spent thousands of dollars on call centers owned by companies in the Philippines and Canada.

FIVE. Biden’s most recent race-based gaffe, in Danville, Va., Tuesday, has increased calls to replace him on the presidential ticket. Obama is sticking by his man, defending Biden’s chain comment on Wednesday.

Obama told People Magazine that Biden was referring to “you, consumers, the American people, will be a lot worse off if we repeal these [Wall Street reform] laws as the other side is suggesting.”

My opinion is that at some point over the past 24 hours, Obama got a phone call from his campaign informing him that "Biden is killing us out there, absolutely killing us. You are going to have to rein this guy in or get ready for a landslide defeat."

So despite tepid assurances by the Obama camp today that Biden is still on the ticket, I'm thinking that they are putting Biden on ice for now and are putting together a secret committee to vet another running mate. They only have about three weeks to make their move.

I don't think it will be Hillary. She'd be a fool to take it and if she did take it, I don't think she'll help the ticket as much as some here seem to think she will. Also, with the size of Obama's ego, do you think he'd really select somebody that will take all the attention away from him? He'd also need to hire a full time food taster and double his Secret Service detail.

Obama will likely select an adult that is not slobbering all over himself like Biden but not somebody who is overly smart or telegenic who will upstage him. He'll go with a boring, safe pick who won't upstage or embarrass him. Somebody like Mike Beebe of Arkansas.

...saying that then-Sen. Barack Obama was the “first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy.”

That's the one that caused Chrissy Matthews to become all hot and bothered. It was all tingle all the time for Chrissy after Rimshot said that.

Let’s predict what the reason will be for Biden’s untimely exit:

1. Spend more time with the family.
2. Prostate cancer.
3.
4.
5.

Lady Gagger would be their prime VP pick.

The media would be too busy grovelling to ask them anything.

Biden’s gaffes are not taken seriously by anybody because he is recognized as a oafish clown by both Democrats and Republicans.

Biden is not hurting the campaign although he is certainly not helping the campaign.

The gaffe that history will remember from this campaign was Barry’s “You did not build that.”

It was really not a gaffe because it was not a mis-statement as it truthfully revealed who Barry really is.

The Democrat elite actually likes having Biden on the ticket because he will be the scapegoat if Barry loses.

Barry lost because he was just to loyal to that loose cannon Joe Biden.

The Democrat elite always has a CYA excuse for losing an election.

Dukakis lost because of those racist Willie Horton ads.

Gore the clown who could not even win his home state even though it would have given him the election lost because it was stolen from him by the Supreme Court.

Kerry lost because he got Swiftboated.

If Barry loses it will be because independents and swing voters in battleground states trusted Mittens more than they trusted Barry not because Biden was terrible and Paul Ryan was great.

Biden may voluntarily pull himself off the ticket. Biden speaking, “I have come to realize I am pulling the ticket down and putting it back in chains. DOH! See there, I gotta go and the train to Delaware leaves in 5 minutes!”

But then who does Obama pick? Hillary won’t do it, I agree. Oh yeah, another famous Dem woman is in the wings... Nancy, oh Nancy!!! I need you.

Some of his gaffes are unspoken truths.

I think as stupid as he is he would be better than what we have now.
