How to Save America.
Free Republic Original Content | 8/17/2012 | by Laz A. Mataz

We've witnessed the devolution of America for some time now.

From the Presidential and Congressional advocacy of socialist and communist concepts, to a continuously faltering economy, we observe the prosperity we have traditionally enjoyed, rapidly evaporating.

We have been blessed in America with domestic peace. Yet that, too, seems under fire. We are seeing more left- and right-wing fanatics going on shooting sprees, and the Department of Homeland Security is stocking up on vehicles and arms best applied to civil-wartime situations -- not to a domestic policing effort.

More and more laws are written restricting individual liberties, and rights that are not specifically stated, such as privacy, are under constant attack. The President and the Congressional bodies are increasingly circumventing or ignoring the rules written to keep them from becoming an adversarial entity pitted against the public.

When swimming in the ocean, there is a danger of being caught in a rip-tide. When this happens to someone, after struggling against the current for too long, some people become exhausted, and then simply give up. I see this happening among my peers, with respect to the political and sociological tides we are facing. I would advise them, though, not to give up.

There is a way to save America.

Simply put: Behave with ethics, morals, and a reverence to God (as you understand Him).

That's right. That simple decision will help America be restored. "How? That's insane!" some will respond. How will behaving with ethics, morals, and a reverence to God help save America?

America's problems stem from only one source: A lack of ethics and morals, and a self-centered and self-seeking population. The level of immaturity and desire for instant gratification found in 'average Americans' is profound.

Where is the need for government-mandated welfare, when charities are full because people are eager to help their fellow man? Why would we need Social Security when people are disciplined enough to put away for their future, and to help those who -- for whatever reason -- cannot? Why would we hear the misinformed calls for gun restrictions, if guns are nearly universally used with responsibility and morality?

Where would be the need to regulate businesses to near stagnation, if the owners and directors acted with moral conviction in their day-to-day decisions? Why would socialism or communism be attractive to a small subset of Americans, if free market participants behaved with ethics and prosperity was available to all?

Where would the need be for excessive lawmaking (and the subsequent Police State we see manifesting before our eyes) if individuals behaved largely within a moral and ethical framework?

It becomes immediate apparent that the words of several Founding Fathers were prescient:

"Without morals a republic cannot subsist any length of time; they therefore who are decrying the Christian religion, whose morality is so sublime and pure (and) which insures to the good eternal happiness, are undermining the solid foundation of morals, the best security for the duration of free governments." -- Charles Carroll, signer of the Declaration of Independence

"Bad men cannot make good citizens. A vitiated state of morals, a corrupted public conscience are incompatible with freedom." -- Patrick Henry, Patriot and Revolutionary

"Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." -- John Adams, signer of the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights and our second President.

We cannot control the morality of other people. We cannot. Therefore, we must look only to our own moral standing, and seek to improve that at every turn. If we become aligned with God's will, we can, in that way, do our little part. If we embrace God and morality, we will be more likely to vote for people who embrace the same things. We will be more likely to help our fellow man, when it is truly justified. We will be less likely to act out in a proactive act of violence. We will lessen the need for more and more oppressive laws.

So, how do you save America?

Simple. Become a more moral, ethical, less self-centered person, and embrace God’s will in all of your affairs..

YES, “God’s got this” is what I’ve been trying to tell myself.

Thank you, Laz.

good stuff Laz...but as you said, and *know*, we can only maintain our side of the street...

Actually, I think I mention that... I stress we can only work on our OWN moral and ethical foundation, and our connection to God.

READ THE FOLLOWING EXCERPT FROM THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE - WHO DOES THIS SOUND LIKE?

* He has refused his assent to laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

* He has made judges dependent on his will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.

* He has erected a multitude of new offices, and sent hither swarms of officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance.

* He {intends to keep} among us, in times of peace, standing armies without the consent of our legislature.

* He {intends to render} the military independent of and superior to civil power.

* He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our Constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws...

* For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent...

* For depriving us in many {future} cases, of the benefits of trial by jury...

* For ... abolishing our most valuable Laws and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:

* He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavored to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless ... savages, whose known rule of warfare, is undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.

* In every stage of these oppressions we have petitioned for redress in the most humble terms: our repeated petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.

* Nor have We been wanting in attentions to our ... brethren. We have warned them from time to time of attempts by their legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the circumstances of our emigration and settlement here. We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations, which, would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence. They too have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity.

LOL! It's odd, but I can hear a backhanded compliment in there, friend. It's like, "Damn he's finally being normal"-kinda stuff. LOL!

I love it and take zero offense, brother. What's up is that I feel that politics is a sometimes horrifying and often boring exercise, and I like to try to cheer up the troops by being a little nutty from time to time. :)

Yep. This speaks to me, personally. The state of things has me pretty angry, but I'm trying to let God help me deal with that. I do believe I should vote my morals, but I can't be in God's will if I'm marinating in anger.

Wow. This really spoke to me. Thanks.

I, reluctantly, differ with my esteemed fellow Freeper, Laz.

It is naive to think that simply living a more moral life will result in victory over the Left (commies, socialists, gay causeniks, et al).

They will NEVER give up. When defeated, they will come right back again.

We will be in this struggle until death. Get used to it.

I submit that to overcome the Left:

1. Work to convince others that we are right and the Left is wrong. We are having some success in this.

2. When in power, DE-FUND the Left. They use unions, universities, civil service, grants, trial lawyers, and tax exempt foundations to make the rest supply them with a paycheck. They actually use our tax dollars to fight us and propagandize our children. They even fund environmental lawsuits which harm our economy with our tax dollars.

We can fix this. Imagine the impact of school vouchers on the teacher unions and what kids get taught in school. We need to fight to de-fund the Left at every opportunity. Without that funding, they are much weaker.

3. At the federal level, review all security clearances and find the enemy agents. We are riddled with them right now. Start with the counter-intel divisions of the FBI because that’s the FIRST place they try to infiltrate.

4. Audit the finances of every potential agent-of-influence including civil service and ALL pols. You will find questionable wealth from bribes.

3. We need more activists and not just on keyboards. In my personal experience, there is no better way to influence the outcomes of elections than to be a poll worker, Election Judge, or Poll Watcher. Without vote fraud, they lose at least 5% nationally and much more in certain precincts.

Laz, thanks for your contribution to our Cause.

Excellent essay, Laz. Thanks for putting it out there.

In the eternal war between the Takers and the Makers, the Takers will always outnumber the Makers.

Sometime, the Makers just need to remember those four magic words..”Get Off My Lawn.” And be willing to back it up at any cost.

Turning inward and remembering God and your faith, and how we got to be the Country we have been is essential for personal survival.

But society survival - as a whole - has been altered, possibly irrevocably, by the left over the decades.

They’ve opened Pandora’s box with the sexual revolution to destroy the morality of people; with no faith or morality basis (not allowed to talk about faith or morality in the public education anymore) - other than “feel-good” and “self-esteem” BS to counter the assault of unrestrained eroticism on young minds, you get sexual assaults, rape, molestation, out of wedlock pregnancies, etc.

With the feminist movement, they destroyed the harmony of the household and poisoned relationships between men and women;

They’ve used every technique possible to emasculate manhood and the authority of “Dad”, and promote their version of “the perfect man” - effeminate, crying at the drop of a dime, overly-sensitive and basically unable to take control of a situation as men have done in the past. Somewhere I have the late Colonel Jeff Cooper’s list of the things a man should be able to do. It’s something that all young men should be taught by their fathers - required reading as it were.

With the abortion movement, they’ve managed to convince mothers to ignore the maternal instinct- arguably one of the strongest instincts next to self-preservation - and to murder their own children and call it a “choice”. How many millions of souls have been slaughtered in THIS Holocaust?

With atheism, with the queer revolution, etc., etc., all the pop culture garbage that has become mainstreamed into the living rooms, headphones, and internet browsers all over the country.

1950s-style American neighborhoods are rare, if they still exist. Hell, we can’t even afford to raise the same size families as our folks did in the 1950s.

I used to drive through my old neighborhood on my way home from work sometimes. One route I drove took me through the rowhome section where I spent a large part part of my youth; there was a church on every other or third corner, no exaggeration - different denominations, but churches nonetheless. I remember Sundays, those places were filled, the bells would ring, and families would be attending services.

Those same churches - Lutheran, Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, a Jewish Synagogue, etc., - are closed up and boarded over now. The local gangsta thugs “tagged” them with graffiti in what looks like a final middle finger of disrespect.

It’s sad to see. I remember a different neighborhood. I also remember when the drug dealers came in from other neighborhoods they’d destroyed, and started in on our neighborhood youngsters; nobody killed them, nobody took them out, the police did nothing, and some of my friends died before the age of 21. People moved out, businesses moved out, and the neighborhood went to hell inside of ten years.

With the drug culture carefully marketed, packaged, handed down and turned into Cheech and Chong “Cool” from the 1960s onwards they’ve destroyed some of our best young minds, and crippled others. And still it continues. We can regulate, control, administer, govern, coerce, and intimidate everything and everyone else, but still the dope flows on.

The other side through stealth, through determination and hatred of all things American, and now through legislation have turned this country on its ear.

So, yes, turning inward to God can save ourselves and our own souls. But the soul of the country may be lost as a whole.

It came back a little bit, for a little while, after 9-11-2001. And within days, the left was moving to erase any shred of patriotism and togetherness the country was exhibiting. I remember watching it happen in front of my eyes - the parade of talking head “experts” coming on TV telling us not to jump to conclusions, this was not the time for flag-waving, etc., Darryl Worley wrote a song called “Have You Forgotten” shortly after that atrocity inflicted on us by Islam and Liberals.

In it, he states “...they took all the footage off our TV, said it was too disturbing for you and me...it’ll just breed anger, that’s what the experts say...”

He nailed it. It was coordinated and carefully orchestrated to erase an event that united the country - however briefly - because that unity threatened the agenda.

I don’t see us being repaired by anything less than a catastrophe and a major purging of the other side. The irony of it is, the other side is PUSHING for that catastrophe - which I truly believe will destroy them ultimately - and there are more than enough people on our side of the aisle who have had enough, who are ithching for a fight, and who are salivating at the thought of finally pushing BACK and not inclined to back off once unleashed.

Hope I’m wrong...But I don’t think so.

Sorry for the long rant.

Nossir. Not even close. Every single person who reads this and decides to behave differently, adds to the restoration of America.

Saving the country turns out to be an 'inside job'.

We will be less likely to act out in a proactive act of violence.

I was thinking similar thoughts over this Amnesty position that Obama is taking. it's like the Sal Alinsky rule “Overwhelm the system so it collapses. I see no good from it.

Here's the paradox. Do you really want the side (Republicans) that talks conservative and talks free markets (regardless if they believe it or not) to be at the visible wheel when it all collapses? AGAIN?? a second time? And get blamed for two?

Or the economy could get better (I am not counting on that) and the next years POTUS gets the credit for it.

Tnat is the complexity of real life that we live in and our inability to see the future.

Oh if the world were only black and white like on the hannity show.

These past three and a half years have been nothing BUT horrifying... watching Urkel Mugabe dismantle the country and the mediots carry the water for him, and “our” side - the GOP - in full tuck tail between legs mode.

The American Revolution was reactive.

I mentioned 'proactive'.

What a frigging mess. Makes me want to throw up on the nearest lib I can find.

Wow...there’s some interesting imagery...

“Hey...I’m here to “Give Something BACK to you..” to “Make a DIFFERENCE”....to have an IMPACT” in your world...” and then heeeeeeeeeeeeeeere’s RALPHY!!!”

I feel better already at the thought of it.
