Prince WIlliam helps rescue girl from sea

His title is Duke of Cambridge, but Prince William was a real-life knight in shining armor for a pair of teenage sisters in England. William, 30, was working his day job as a search-and-rescue pilot in the Royal Air Force (RAF) Thursday afternoon when a call came in that a 16-year-old girl had been swept out to sea off the coast of Silver Bay in Anglesey.

From Crib to Captain: Prince William Through the Years

The girl, who has not been identified, and her 13-year-old sister had been body-boarding in the water when they were caught on a riptide, according to the BBC. As the girl tried to help her younger sister, she also became distressed.

While the younger sister was able to be pulled safely to shore by onlookers, the 16-year-old remained stranded in the water.

Less than 38 seconds after receiving a distress call, an RAF rescue helicopter captained by Prince William came to her rescue.

With the aid of two surfers waving and pointing to the area where the girl was stranded, William swooped the helicopter down to the waters while his winchman, Master Aircrew Harry Harrison, pulled the older sister out of the water.

"When I got to her, the elder girl was clearly exhausted and was going under the water for what was the very last time," Harrison told the BBC. "We never know what we'll face when we're called out, this was one rescue where we truly did arrive in the nick of time and managed to save two young lives."

Both sisters were taken to a nearby hospital as a precautionary measure but were said to have suffered from only the shock and cold of the water.

Please make him King when the Queen steps down. It would be a tragedy to see Charles as King.

Would love to see pictures. This girl must be falling in love with the prince by now. What a story.

William and Harry are the real thing. They are genuine down to earth people. Their mum would be proud, their dad should be proud...

Good thing she was drowing in the sea.

If she was drowning in her bathtub, the NHS would have selected her to die from the withdrawal of healthcare after she got bronchitis in hospital.

Come to think of it, she better pray William doesn't drop her off AT a hospital - that will be the end of her for sure.

English monarchs don’t “step down”. They die. Upon their death, their eldest son inherits the throne. If there is no son, then their eldest daughter. If the monarch is childless, the throne is inherited by his next eldest brother. If the brother has already died, then the brother’s oldest son. The inheritance doesn’t skip generations based on looks and media-generated popularity.
I think Charles will make an excellent king.

“I think Charles will make an excellent king.”

Huh? Is there anything he did that showed the man has good judgment? From his treatment of Lady Di (including cheating on her), to his swallowing Al Gore’s global warming crap hook, line, and sinker, I think the man is as disastrous as Biden!

Dude, you gotta stop wasting your time with American "news". The Daily Mail ALWAYS has the goods:

Well, they only have pictures of William as an RAF pilot. It'll probably take them a day or two to get a picture of the young ladies.

I don't even bother with American junk these days. They're always censoring Obama news, to make him look good, and they're always sucking up to The Won.

The Daily Mail NEVER gets the memo, AND they always have great pictures. Bookmark the US version home page (they also have a UK version home page, but it's for Brits, or Britophiles):

You need to do more than tabloid reading to assess the qualities and character of someone you know nothing about.

Yep. Charles is a complete idiot. He is almost a cartoon version of the royal fool.

Back in the late 1980's, steel production in Western Pennsylvania collapsed. Thousands of people were thrown out of work. Whole towns were financially destroyed.

The great Prince Charles was invited in to give his royal opinion on what should replace the mills.

His suggestion: plant flower gardens. Idiot.

Please make him King when the Queen steps down. It would be a tragedy to see Charles as King.

William's (and Harry's) example for courage and military service was set by their father, Prince Charles. After Cambridge, Charles trained and qualified as an RAF pilot (fixed and rotary wing), and then trained and qualified as a Royal Navy officer. In his naval career, Charles served in a destroyer and two frigates, commanded a minesweeper, and also qualified and served at sea as a RN helicopter pilot. Charles sought to emulate the naval service of his father and uncle - the latter of whom (Lord Louis Mountbatten) rose to serve as Supreme Allied Commander, South East Asia in WWII.

William and Harry have also followed their father into polo, which Charles played competitively into his 40s. Polo and 3-Day Eventing, the other extreme equestrian sport, are two Windsor pastimes that require balls of steel and can get you crushed, paralyzed or killed in a hurry - a testament to their roots as military pastimes.

Whether you personally love or hate the Prince of Wales or his equally unfaithful late wife, Charles deserves credit for instilling the courage and dedication to service which are now exhibited by his sons. And when his time arrives, Charles will have earned his succession to the throne.

What an asinine, irrelevant post.
Edward was never crowned, never reigned, and his abdication because of his choice of a twice-divorced international slut as his wife was the exception that proves the rule. Queen Elizabeth is not going to abdicate. So I repeat, English monarchs do not “step down” - the throne is not a corporate job from which one retires.
