The State Department expressed its concern over the two-year jail sentence given to a Russian punk band over an anti-government stunt.

"The United States is concerned about both the verdict and the disproportionate sentences handed down by a Moscow court in the case against the members of the band Pussy Riot and the negative impact on freedom of expression in Russia," State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said in a statement.

"We urge Russian authorities to review this case and ensure that the right to freedom of expression is upheld," Nuland said.

Freedom of expression? They desecrated a holy cathedral by standing in front of a consecrated alter playing rock music with profane lyrics. As acts of infamy go, this is like pissing all over a war memorial whilst doing a Nazi salute and yelling ‘sieg heil’.

Two years in a penal colony does seem a bit harsh, but this is Russia, and in Russia, they don’t screw around, and as Russians, they should have known this better than anyone..

In other news, the Obama Administration announced the initiation of Predator drones and Hellfire missiles against customers of all Chik-fil-A restaraunts in the continental United States, except those within one mile of a mosque.

"We see this as a proper balance between walking back Christian hate against the rights of Gays to never be disagreed with, and reverence for the protection of religious beliefs of Muslims our Constitution enshrines" a spokesperson said.

Today we hear unemployment is up in 44 states and this is the crap this administration feels the need to address. November can't come soon enough.

That’s a good name for a chick punk band. Heh.

Betcha feminist protesters steal it ... though it’d be better suited to male anti-war protesters.

Seems quite incredible the Federal Government of the United States is so concerned about “Pussy Riot”.

>> Today we hear unemployment is up in 44 states and this is the crap this administration feels the need to address.

In fairness ... “Pussy Riot” is more in the administration’s wheelhouse. They’d almost have to be more qualified to respond to this ever-so-pressing controversy.

They’re fresh out of ideas for addressing unemployment.

>> November can’t come soon enough.

Ever get the feeling Obama feels the same way? Heh. I mean, he ‘inhereted’ so many problems last time around ... just think how many he’d inheret if he were re-elected.

If Hussein wins in November, Russia might soon offer more freedom of expression than the US!
