GLENDALE, Ariz. - Glendale Police responded to reports of a shooting in the parking lot of University of Phoenix stadium Friday night, while the Cardinals were playing the Raiders in their first preseason game.
We're hearing a man in his 30s was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head. He's currently in stable condition.
A suspect has apparently been taken into custody.
No other information was made available.

It’s the Raiders, what’s surprising about a shooting?
The fact that it was ‘a’ shooting and not multiple.
It didn't matter. One guy intentionally rammed him with the intent to knock him down where the crowd would have trampled him. I pulled him up after the jerk knocked him down. They spat at us, threw things at us...and of course before the game we got TSA style frisked, but there was no security anywhere to be found afterwards.
That night we developed a real hatred for the Cardinals and we had a celebratory dinner when the Steelers beat them in the Super Bowl. I'm not shocked that something like that would happen there. We will never go again.
Where did is say it was a Raider fan who was the shooter suspect in AZ?
Might help to obtain the facts first.
Those crazy TV commentators and their stereotypes...
Change their name ‘Raiders’ to ‘Care Bears’. Problem solved. The gangsters would scatter like rats.
Gang sues to change the name to Care-less Bears, or Voodoo Bears. Union supports the change.
I had no idea that there are such passionate Cardinals fans. Really, everybody I know who follows them hopes they win but shrugs his shoulders when they don’t.
The Cardinals are the last football team anyone would expect to have rabid fans.
I agree...And the name seems to suggest such a well behaved, nice birdy.
Either a well-behaved Birdie,
Or maybe you were expecting the Spanish Inquisition?
THOSE Cardinals (Biggles and Fang) are QUITE Scary! :-0
Mixed reports on the local news. Some are saying altercation and shooter arrested, others accidental and the shooter released.
Once they have the name, ABC will be furiously scanning all TEA Party rosters this morning...
Yeah, the Raiders and the Dodgers bring out the most ghettofied class of people. No surprise there.
I’m just glad so many left and moved to Arizona.
Shooting near Cards-Raiders game called ‘fan-based’
As the Arizona Cardinals celebrated their first win of the season Friday night in Glendale, a football fan was fighting or his life in the hospital after another fan shot him following an argument, police said.
Police called the incident “fan-based” without elaborating.
The shooter called 911 at about 9:30 p.m. — about an hour before the Cardinals-Oakland Raiders game ended — and told an operator he accidentally another man in a parking lot near a hotel that’s north of the stadium, a police statement said.
Police spokeswoman Tracey Breeden said it appeared both men were there for the game, but investigators did not know if they actually attended.
“The caller did not attempt to flee the area and remained at the scene near the victim,” police said. “Glendale officers that were working security in the area were able to quickly arrive on scene while the caller was still on the phone with 911. The potential suspect was immediately taken into custody without incident.”
The man suspected in the shooting was later released and no further arrests were made. The gunshot victim was treated by Glendale firefighters on scene and taken to a local hospital. Authorities initially reported he had a life-threatening injury. They said he’s now in stable condition expect him to live.
“At this time, the names of both involved parties are not being released, and charges are potentially pending on both involved parties,” police said.
Police said investigators determined the men were in a “verbal altercation” in the parking lot “which ultimately resulted in one party sustaining a single gunshot wound.”
“The incident appears to be fan-based,” police said without elaborating. “Discussing details of the investigation at this point could negatively impact the case and compromise the investigation.”
No further details, including the 911 call, will not be released at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
