CIA spies have smuggled up to 14 Stinger missiles into Syria so rebels can defend themselves from air strikes.

The ground-to-air weapons have been delivered across the Turkish border to the Free Syrian Army and were partly paid for by Saudi Arabia, a security source claimed.

President Bashar al-Assad’s MIG-23 warplanes and helicopter gunships have killed more than 1,000 people.

We provide the Stingers, and we provide the brief instruction on their use. However we do *not* provide maintenance or replacement parts, and this matters. Stingers are “use ‘em or lose ‘em” weapons. Their batteries are not standard and run down in short order, and unless maintained, their electronics fail quickly as well. We long ago figured out that our weapons, while they could be used easily enough, should not be allowed to leave the area where we want them used.

All fine and good. However, we have no business taking any sides in this civil war. Nothing good can come of it.

Obama has been doing this sort of thing with unusual openness, but Jimmy Carter and Bubba Clinton also both fought wars on the wrong side—Carter installing the Muzzies in Iran, Clinton helping the Muslims in former Yugoslavia against the Bosnians.

As for the CIA, it is stuffed with left-wing Ivy Leaguers, and has been for decades. They all think they are very clever, and think that anyone who thinks “America First” is probably pretty naive.

There’s a think line between penetrating enemy operations and helping them out, and the CIA often crosses it, all the while patting itself on the back for being so exceedingly smart.

Don’t think of it in terms of addition, but subtraction.

Hopefully, a lot of better quality Russian weapons and aircraft will be used up or destroyed, and Assad’s soldiers, Hezbollah and Iranian al-Quds, and al-Qaeda will get splattered. The more the merrier.

The more they kill each other, the better our popcorn tastes.

If they really cripple each other, maybe the Kurdish part of Syria will take a powder and join Iraqi Kurdistan.

That strategery turned out real well when we handed Stingers over to the Islamist Mujaheddeen in Afghanistan back in the 1980’s.

They still had some working left-overs that they used against US aircraft when we went into Afghanistan after 9/11.

LOL,, I would hope we still have a few ‘loaners’ laying around for goodwill. I stopped trapping weapons smuggling and such years ago.. I hope they have fresh fuel cells. It is hard to tell who or what side some folks are on these days.
