A first-of-its-kind state law that would restrict parents from trying to "cure" their minor children's same-sex attractions seems headed to the governor's desk.

F Sacramento. If my kids were still young enough and I suspected one was gay I'd dare the perverts in government here to try to stop me from doing anything I could to straighten them out.

And so the state invades the doctor-patient relationship, opening up unlimited controls and loss of freedoms. Where on Earth are Conservative groups on this? It is NOT just about homos, it is about Big Brother, period. Where is Alex Jones and the Ron Paul dudes? This is insanity!

Of course, we have to be liberal and celebrate diversity and all that.
I’m sure the homosexual activists will praise this as some sort of ground breaking legislation, so that evil straight parents, the kind who don’t celebrate diversity, would be disappointed that their non-adult children claim to be homosexual.
We have gone far beyond the idea of homosexuals wanting to be left alone, not wanting private activity to be criminal, and all that.
I’m sure that with pressures brought to bear by homosexual activists, that Jerry Brown would be afraid to veto a bill such as this.

The best thing that could be done to counter this is for a commercial to be aired
in spanish on spanish language radio & TV telling those people what their democrat representatives in Sacramento are doing.
I'll bet right now you could not find a single word about this in the spanish language media.

I’m almost surprised that the state doesn’t just take a child the moment it’s born and send the mother home with,”Be proud of your service to the State. Now go home and cotinue your duties.”
But under obama, it will come.

NARTH warned of this and knows it has been a long time coming. The APA opened the door to this kind of legislation when they lost their objectivity and scientific stance in the ‘70s and began to embrace all aspects of the liberal agenda. It is their bread and butter— the profession would collapse (as it now stands) if it began to concede to our side.

You, and those that think like you can all go to Hell IMO. There are many of us out here in California doing the best we can to overcome the radical Leftist crap that’s been bestowed upon our Golden State by the immigration of Leftist anus orifices from all over the East Coast of this Nation since WWII. Same has happened to Florida. East Coast liberals, so shove your “big one” where the light don’t shine.

One of the times I was in Sacramento, one of the aides told me "oh, we pass unconstitutional laws all the time". I wish I could remember who's office it was - but we were in so many that day.

Requirements that children be given identical toys is a logical and inevitable next step and then enforced "counseling" for children who inappropriately prefer what were once called gender appropriate toys and, in school, for boys who disđain holding hands with other boys. The nation is blessed with now two Homosexual States, Massachusetts and California.

CA cannot collapse soon enough.
When it does and the refugees flood us, are we going to be stupid enough to let them in?
To: wolfman23601
It's not, but it will take some time for it to be declared so. The effort just makes the CA legislature feel good. It's only a matter of time before this will be struck down. As an example, here in FL a law which granted grandparents some minimal visitation rights to the their grandchildren was struck down as an impermissible invasion of the family's right to privacy and association. Having the state invade the province of the parent's right to choose treatment for their children will not fly, anymore than prohibiting parents from choosing othrtodontia would.
To: Da Coyote
You are worried about California refugees???? Seriously? I am more worried about WHAT WILL HAPPEN. What will happen is that the rest of this country will bail out this farce of a state. It is the 5th largest economy in the world or some such thing taken alone. You just watch what happens with all these bankruptcies of cities and eventually the state. It will be imperative that we bail them out. The media will be behind it all and our leaders, whether it’s Romney or Obama, will implore we bail it out on our children’s backs. It’s coming. Either Romney or Obama will claim they saved California just like the government saved GM Motors.

Or move to another state where such efforts to reform a child are legal.

Let’s face it. These laws are intended to appease their base, but the more important and intended effect is to rid the state of any last vestage of conservative opposition.
Although, in the past, the maxim that CA will lead the nation was true; in the future it will be otherwise. In the past, CA lead the way with innovation based on free markets and minimal interference in people’s daily lives. This is definitely not the case today. Of course, the rich will still have their lifestyle, but the rest of the state will be Argentina. CA will serve as an eduring testament to the failure of Leftist policies.

Although gays comprise a small percentage of the population, gays make more money per capita, hold influential jobs (Hollywood, Silicon valley) and strongly vote Dem. But more importantly, doctrinaire Leftists consider ‘gay rights’ tantamount to the civil rights movement of the 60s, and they are willing to take a ‘principled’ stand on this issue. The Latinos and Black groups are firmly planted on the Dem plantation and will follow directives by their elite, gay-sympathizing betters. Becoming a Republican for CA Latinos and Blacks is a fate worse than death.
