Thanks for the compliment! ‘smart person’...makes me feel good!
Why the Second Amendment? Because on the Second Amendment she sounds not just genuine and sincere, but passionate. That’s what has set her apart, in a good way, to me. I believe Romney, for example, probably would go along with reinstating the so-called assault weapons ban if he thought he could get away with it. With Palin, I believe her support for the Second Amendment comes from something more than fearing the base. The only other person this cycle I got the same feeling from was Perry, but of course he couldn’t speak.
Otherwise, on pretty much every other issue, there are probably better champions in the Republican party than Palin.
What I don’t get (and sorry if I mistakenly attributed it to you) is the comments I’ve read where people here actually think Palin, assuming she would have won the nomination, would have beat Obama.
No...Akin didn't say this. "Rape as a result of sex by force?" This makes no sense. Rape is sex by force, and the writer and editor of the article have attributed a sentiment to him that he doesn't espouse. He did speak about pregnancy as a result of sex by force, but not "rape" as a result of sex by force, since rape is sex by force. It looks like just about anyone can misspeak, or mis-write, or mis-edit.
Akin still needs to go. NOW, please!
“”the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”
That’s what the guy said
Well...first of all - this would not be a woman’s body shutting down. This is related to sperm that may - or may not already be present in the body.
So you have to presume alot of things about the situation of the rape.
Sperm usually only live for a few days...one week tops.
So you are assuming that a rape victim has a defense from pregnancy only if her mate’s sperm is present in her body.
This really has nothing to do with what Akin was suggesting.
Basically the man just stated the pro-life position and attempted to defend being pro-life even in the case of violent rape. It’s a hard sell, he took a shot and got blistering return fire. Now he gets booted out of the GOP too? So I am just wondering exactly what does the GOP stand for these days? I skipped the last election, McCain was just to much to ask of this former GOPer. My motivation to vote GOP (at the top) this election is once again zero. Watching the GOP toss this guy under the bus only confirms my belief that the GOP is not to be trusted or believed. Abortion is not one of my big issues, but to lots of folks in the GOP it is a very big issue. The GOP claims to be a pro-life party but then the going gets tuff the GOP can’t retreat fast enough. Yeah Akinms’ comments were awkward and offensive to the uber left. So what?
He isn’t getting kicked out of the GOP.
He can remain a member of any party he wishes.
The GOP simply isn’t going to fund someone who is so incredibly tone deaf and toxic.
He did this to himself.
If the GOP can’t squash the hypocritical leftists making a mountain of this molehill then they deserve to lose the Senate.
I’m a woman and am more upset by the Republicans calling for this guy to step aside!
“This isnt a gaffe. This is cruel and ignorant beyond the pale.”
No its a silly gaffe.
And I don't see how he's wrong.
LOL!
OK - please do go ahead and explain to me how is correct?
He just admitted on Hannity’s show that he was factually incorrect....but go right ahead!
