FTA: The surge in sales of Russian assault rifles and shotguns are fuelled by firearms enthusiasts who are paranoid about the weapons being banned in the United States.

That may be true, but not in the way the author intends.

Paranoid: Exhibiting or characterized by extreme and irrational fear (the part of the definition I think the author intends)

or

distrust of others.

Which is probably the correct definition to use.

The Kenyan must go.

worried about a ban might be the “front” reason to buy them,
but deep underneath is the understanding, not “fear”, that the gov’t under the control of leftists WILL use force to make the citizenry comply and give up freedoms.

These weapons are fairly cheap and widely available, and that is what is driving their purchase.
