The High Price of Obama’s Amnesty
Townhall.com ^ | August 20, 2012 | Morgan Brittany

$585 million dollars.

That is the estimate of what Obama’s new amnesty will cost the American taxpayer.  This back door plan, put into action by imperial edict without any input from Congress, is just another nail in the coffin of our economy.  This past week thousands of children of illegal immigrants were granted the right to apply for “deferred action” in order to stay in this country and sign up for employment opportunities.  Starting August 15th, illegal aliens up to the age of 30 who meet certain requirements can begin submitting their applications that will allow them to remain in the country for a period of two years, with indefinite renewals.  They may also apply for work authorization, adding an estimated 2 million job-seekers to the workforce when we have record unemployment.

Take a look at Immigrationreform.com and read the ten things that you need to know about Obama’s amnesty and it will make your head spin.

Really?  How does Congress allow this to happen?  They just ignore this issue and sweep it under the rug hoping that the American people are on summer vacation and won’t notice that we have just opened wide the doors to 2 million illegal’s!  Once again they let this President steam roll over them.  It seems like they have forgotten that the Dream Act was defeated as recently as 2010.

What are the unintended consequences of this amnesty?  Well, let’s see.  Not only will it cost the American taxpayers an (estimated) $585 million dollars just to implement the program, but on top of that there are millions or perhaps billions more.  Once they become permanent legal residents the floodgates open.  Medicare, Social Security, food stamps, education, not to mention the earned income tax credit that would cost tens of billions annually.  This will also encourage even more illegal immigration when others figure out how to work the system.

This also opens the door to rampant fraud.  When an applicant goes online for the form there are no safeguards in place to prevent fraud even to satisfy this administration’s low standards of eligibility. In fact, the application explicitly states that “you do not need to submit original documents unless the USCIS requests them.” Under Obama’s guidance, do you think they will ever be requested?

What about the millions of immigrants who have gone about applying for citizenship the right way?  How do they feel when they have been pushed to the back of the line because of this irresponsible act?  And as for the Hispanic and Black Americans, do you think they are happy knowing that Obama’s job killing policies have hurt their communities?  The unemployment rate for Hispanics is 3 percent higher than the national average hovering around 11 percent.  In the Black community the unemployment rate for Black youth is a staggering 40.5% as of March 2012. This new policy will not only take jobs away from them, but also from the millions of other Americans hoping to find work in a diminished economy.

This is illegal in so many ways yet Congress chooses not to recognize it.  Is it because they are afraid to touch the forbidden area of immigration?  Do they think they will be accused of being racists?  Well, I have news, they’ve already been accused of it so it’s time to get over it and stand up for what is right for this country and the American people.

We can’t afford this.  We are faltering under a national debt that could reach as high as 40 trillion dollars within a decade and illegal immigration is a big part of that number. The money has to come from somewhere. Since Congress didn’t pass this legislation and did not appropriate funds for it, where will the money come from?  Tax dollars alone will not pay for all of it, so the cost will be satisfied by illegally raiding other programs.  Veterans hospitals or border control stations that monitor drug trafficking could be the victims.  Who knows what else might be raided?

At least Governor Jan Brewer is stepping up to the plate.  She signed an executive order to stop public benefits for these young illegal aliens.  She gets it; she knows what the costs will be to her state.

We need to fix the immigration problem, not add to it.  Everyone knows that Obama only did this to gain Hispanic support in the upcoming election.  It is transparent pandering and everyone can see right through it. (Pardon the pun.) If he really wanted to do this, why did he wait until now?  He had both houses of Congress and complete power at the beginning of his term yet he said that he couldn’t do it without Congressional authority.  Funny how things change when desperation sets in and he needs every special interest group he can grab to be re-elected.

Unfortunately he loses in the long run because the majority of the American people see what the costs of this massive amnesty program are.  They see their own families struggling while law breakers are reaping the benefits.  Immigrants who have gone through the process the right way are fighting mad about this and rightly so.  They see now that it would have been easier to stay illegal and reap the rewards.

I am not a racist.  Neither are most Americans.  We understand that people want a better life.  All we are asking for the privilege of living in this great country is that you come here “legally”, abide by the rules, and start off your new life the right way.  Don’t burden us with uncontrollable costs that bring down the standard of living in America.  Become one of us, work hard and contribute to the greatness of this country.  If it is done the right way, the legal way, American citizenship is valued much more.

Why people are not out in the streets screaming bloody murder, I have no idea.

Our president is absolutely out of control, and yet we hear nothing.

The country is toast. We’re literally giving away the greatest nation on earth, like it’s a “for free” item we put out on the curb in a junk sale.

I’m sickened.

Why do we import any sort of immigrant that will “cost” us??

That is the real question.

Immigrants used to be an asset to a nation.

We are entering a dangerous period for life in America.
In 20 years, we won’t recognize it...

The first thing Romney needs to do after being sworn in is round up this bunch of self-identified illegals and deport them.

This will accomplish two things. It will remove a bunch of illegals AND it will cause all other illegals to distrust and “amnesty” as just another scheme to find and deport them.

Haven’t heard a word from Congressional Republicans.

Of course we didn’t expect democrats to oppose anything their Messiah does, but one would think that sooner or later one Republicans testes would swell enough to make a comment.

“you do not need to submit original documents unless the USCIS requests them.”

Proof of birth, proof of citizenship, and the Constitutions requirements for Presidential qualification were apparently already impossible to enforce. Now it's overtly institutionalized. And kids no longer need to scrounge for fake IDs - now the government will provide them at no charge. Want to drive? No problemo. Need a job? No problemo. Want to vote? No problemo.

Oh, and tell me why we bother to have a department of homeland security again?

People are not in the streets because the people have no one to lead them. There is no opposition party. The republicans sit on their butts afraid to offend the illegals while obama pays them to vote for him. You’d think they’d be astute enough to realized it’s best for them NOT to get votes that aren’t there than to give new votes to the democrats. They’re either dumb or want to destroy the country, too.

What bothers me more than the “illegal” amnesty for illegals, is the complete non-action on the part of Congress in reaction to what Morgan Brittany calls Obama’s “imperial edict”, which is in direct contrast to the votes in Congress and the Constitution. If Congress passes a law, or in this case votes to not pass a law, The Dream Act, and the president just decides on his own that he will “do what I have to” because Congress won’t act, why aren’t our elected representatives doing anything to push back on this crap? This is not a monarchy or a dictatorship. Or has it become that? With the way Congress just lays down and plays dead, you might understand how Obama has decided that he is either the king or the dictator of the US. No blowback at all. Where are Boner Boehner and Milk Toast McConnell? Not a word. Disgusts me to no end.

Obama has teed up the football in his first term to take over the government entirely in his 2nd term if he is re-elected. He won’t even consider Congress or the Supreme Court in his second term. The Executive Orders will come streaming out of the White House faster than the propagandist media can keep up with them. He will have no impediments to implementing his socialist/communist agenda into the government and the big ship that used to be America will become just another second rate country. And he is doing this in plain sight, right before our eyes. Shame on our leaders for letting this happen.

Was watching this little illegal dream act punk on Cspan this weekend, whining about how he was still not yet a citizen and how we needed this “path” so guys like him couild go to college, start businesses and contribute to this country.

What they don’t realize is that the joke will be on THEM. As a result of their disingenuous claims of just wanting this “better life” and trampling on the laws of a just and free nation to get it ....they themselves will only end up in a country not unlike what they came from.

They are kidding themselves. And they are a bunch of cowards for not fighting for their own countries.

"Haven’t heard a word from Congressional Republicans."

Wonderful timing by the messiah. (1) Just before the election in order to pander to 'the hispanics' and get their vote, and (2) Just before the election in order to ensure the GOP will not oppose it for fear of upsetting 'the hispanics' and losing their vote. Home run Obozo!

This has nothing to do with compassion. Obama said the other day that Texas, in the near future, will be a toss-up state rather than a lean-Republican state. The DNC plan is to turn the entire Southwest into solid Blue states within 10 years by recruiting the immigrant influx.

>>Why people are not out in the streets screaming bloody murder, I have no idea.<<

I’ll tell you why. Because you could scour the MSM for news of this and not find a morsel. The only places this is being discussed are on conservative websites and possibly Fox News and the radio talk shows.

Why should people be screaming bloody murder about something they know nothing of? Now, if they were informed, that might be another matter entirely...

Good luck with that today...

It's not just illegal immigrants. We take in far too many poor 3rd world immigrants legally via family reunification. These poor legal immigrants plus the illegals take all our grunt jobs and low level entry jobs. The jobs our young people took as their first or second job

Good luck any teen or college student getting a summer job house painting or landscaping. Or working at a MacDonald's any time. Plus once Hispanics take over a niche they will keep out all whites. Good luck if you are a white boy and happen to get a job at a MacDonald' with an Hispanic crew. You ill be driven out so Jose's cousin can get work there

>>The first thing Romney needs to do after being sworn in is round up this bunch of self-identified illegals and deport them.<<

I believe Romney and Ryan could turn this around so that it would backfire on Obama, and they should get started today.

They should cut an ad, in both Spanish and English, warning young Hispanics that the action Obama has taken is just an Executive Order, and that it can be overturned at any time by either Obama or the next President. Therefore Obama has presented them with a terrible choice: They can reveal their existence to the federal government and hope that the government never reverses itself, or they can continue living a life underground.

Romney and Ryan, with Rubio, need to address the very people affected by this Executive Order and explain how they will handle the situation if elected, and why those same illegals (and their friends and relatives) will be more satisfied with the Romney/Ryan/Rubio solution than with the choice that Obama has presented them. A 28 year old who was brought here as a 3 year old, has attended grade school, high school, and college, and is a productive employee here in the U.S. needs to be treated differently than a 28 year old who just crossed the border, for example, or from a 28 year old who’s always having run ins with the law, as another example.

They also need to point out the serious flaws in Obama’s proposal, and get some press for the ICE agents who know what a scam his proposal is turning out to be, but that’s another issue.

Another point for the position ad I suggested: He could also make it clear that his law would offer a path to eventual citizenship, contrary to the future threat of deportment that Obama is offering them. He could also ask why Obama didn’t do exactly that when he had control of both houses of Congress, and instead waited and now offers just a shaky concept of a deferred deportment (emphasis on “deportment.”)

As long as there’s money to be made from importing slave labor from mexico, both political parties and their financiers will do nothing to secure the southern border. The ultimate price will be losing four states (Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California) to mexico. The feds will do nothing to stop it, the state governments are too beholden to their special interests to stop it, and illegals, being illegals in every sense of the word, could care less about the laws anyway, and will overrun anyone who gets in their way. All it would take is to militarize the southern border, and crack down on illegals and their enablers. Unfortunately, I just don’t see that happening, due to the reasons mentioned above.

That is a lot of words and in my scanning of it, the article missed the most important point. If all it takes is being between 16 and 30 years of age, and either being a student of some kind or being in a vocational training program of some sourt, then all of the 911 hijackers would qualify!

GWB was somehow supposed to be to dumb to find those 19 (or 21) individuals in a sea of 300 million people, yet BHO is brilliant for creating a policy that would make it more difficult to find them. Our enemies must be laughing at us.

It only took us 11 short years to forget our citizens who were killed on 9-11-01!
