POLITICO e-book: Obama campaign roiled by conflict
Politico ^ | August 20, 2012 | GLENN THRUSH

President Barack Obama’s campaign team, celebrated four years ago for its exceptional cohesion and eyes-on-the-prize strategic focus, has been shadowed this time by a succession of political disagreements and personal rivalries that haunted the effort at the outset.

Second-guessing about personnel, strategy and tactics has been a dominant theme of the reelection effort, according to numerous current and former Obama advisers who were interviewed for “Obama’s Last Stand,” an e-book out Monday published in a collaboration between POLITICO and Random House.

The discord, these sources said, has on occasion flowed from Obama himself, who at repeated turns has made vocal his dissatisfaction with decisions made by his campaign team, with its messaging, with Vice President Joe Biden and with what Obama feared was clumsy coordination between his West Wing and reelection headquarters in Chicago. The effort in Chicago, meanwhile, has been bedeviled by some of the drama Obama so deftly dodged in 2008 — including, at a critical point earlier this year, a spat that left senior operatives David Axelrod and Stephanie Cutter barely on speaking terms — and growing doubts about the effectiveness of Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

Team Obama: Populated by idiots, exhausted by jousting windmills, and roiled by conflict.

Hopefully, they’ll go back to the Chicago cesspool where they can swim with the tur...er...fellow democrats.

Uh Oh! They may have discovered that Wasserman-Schultz and Biden are liabilities. I sure hope not.

Liberals know they can't win based on their ideas, so the unprincipled liberals in the campaign are vying to get Obama to move to the center, while the steadfast liberals want Obama to stay on the socialist course! The fake move to the center worked last time because of the dumbass "me/guilt" generation, can't work again because American's do have some principles!

We know who YOU are Obama, and it's not anything America wants! YOU'RE FIRED!

No, this is an advertisement for the stupid e-book, which they hope even conservatives will buy because of the faux “turmoil” at election headquarters, so they can raise some cash... don’t waste your money folks...

Could the conflict have something to do with the fact he is trying to get re-elected with double digit unemployment, historic deficits, flat economic growth, shrinking workforce, increasing poverty and non existent foreign policy?

Biden is the least of The Messiah's problems.

The negative ads really backfired.

Romney needs to counter with a specific plan and vision for America.

Politico is populated by Hillary’s coven of supporters who had nothing else to do after her ‘08 loss to the Bamster. There is no love lost for him in this bunch, as they prepare for her to be 2016’s “Come Back Kid,” though the “kid” part may be hard to sell at that point.

I saw this cartoon on another thread. Fits the campaign to a tee. It’s a Ramirez cartoon, so I’ll just post the link.

“Liberals know they can’t win based on their ideas...”

Do they know that? I wonder. I think they are so full of themselves and the utopianism of their ideas, and how they simply *have* so many wonderful ideas; to tell us how to live, to save us from ourselves...

I think they are all ideas, all the time. Unmeasured and unfiltered as to results or execution. I think they are the “if only we could do more, those knuckle-dragging Republicans are obstructing us” party. I think they are 110% ideas; 0% results.

In the 2008 election, these guys basically started on third base, scored on a passed ball, and thought they hit a home run.

This year, the media has already put them on second base, and they're still having trouble advancing.

The reality is, they're not very good, and don't recognize that every success they've had was a gift- and the gift givers aren't giving anymore.

” No, this is an advertisement for the stupid e-book, which they hope even conservatives will buy because of the faux “turmoil” at election headquarters, so they can raise some cash... don’t waste your money folks...”

The first thing that came to my mind.

The libs hate capitalism, until they need to earn some money...and then they appeal to the Conservative’s pocketbook.

Hypocrites...

One of the funnier things in the piece is that Obama has a deep personal dislike of Romney. He doesn’t want Romney to win because — among other things — O thinks the economy will recover and Romney will get the credit.

So looking into the future, O will claim credit for any economic recovery that happens under Romney.

don’t waste your money folks...

Good advice.

That being said, there are some statements in this article that ring true:

"The two things Obama fears most about a Romney victory: A 7-to-2 conservative Supreme Court within a few years. And the equally unbearable possibility, in his mind, that Romney will get to take a victory lap on an economic rebound Obama sees as just around the corner. “I’m not going to let him win … so that he can take credit when the economy turns around,” Obama said, according to an aide."

---------

"Obama’s trash-talking competitiveness, a trait that has defined him since his days on the court as a basketball-obsessed teenager in Hawaii, was on display one night last February, when the president spotted a woman he knew was close to Sen. Marco Rubio in a Florida hotel lobby. “Is your boy going to go for [vice president]?” the president asked her. Maybe, she replied. “Well,” he said, chuckling, according to a person who witnessed the encounter. “Tell your boy to watch it. He might get his ass kicked.”"

------------

"Obama still believes Citizens United, the 2010 Supreme Court decision that unleashed the super PACs, poses a huge threat to representative democracy by equating the largesse of self-serving billionaires with free speech."

(This one is particularly LAUGHABLE, coming from the guy who tramples the Rule of Law and and flings out Executive Orders like confetti.)

It is Obama’s own burning competitiveness, with his remorseless focus on beating Mitt Romney — an opponent he genuinely views with contempt and fears will be unfit to run the country.

This tel-prompter wonk is up against the American success story in Mr. Romney. Something this Food Stamp and tel-prompter wonk community organizer can't fight with honesty, he must smear and belittle which will ultimately destroy the Obama Myth. PooF!

obama is not in charge of the campaign. He’s not in charge of anything. It’s his wife, Valerie Jarrett and Axelrod, who now think they should be in charge, on one side and the puppetmasters on the other. We know Soros is one of the puppetmasters but we don’t know who the rest are. It’s probably the same ones who pull Boner’s and McConnell’s strings.

This is a textbook case of what happens in the absence of leadership.

The report tries to cast the blame on the feuding campaign strategists, while depicting Obama as "above it all" and "in complete command".

Despite Politico's efforts, though, Obama still comes off as a petulant little boy.

In 2008 Obama was a blank slate, he could say anything and the masses would buy it. McCain - was stale...until he selected Palin but between the media ripping her to shreds and propping up zippy and McCain not letting her tell the facts about zippy it was easy for him to sail to victory. This time zippy can’t go out and promise a bunch crap because he has spent the last 4 years proving that he is nothing but an empty suit. He is no longer a blank slate. And the you see Ryan, who can actually think, and explain his ideas, to me not only makes Biden look even more rIdiculous, but he makes zippy look just as stupid.

Do they know that? I wonder.

Obama won the Presidency based on all lies! He had to move to the center to get elected because if he came out and said what he really believed I doubt he would have been elected.

They all move to the center to get elected because no one would vote for someone who wants to confiscate 50+ percent of your income or make our healthcare system a debacle like Obama, the scumbag dem party and Justice Roberts have done... May they all have bites of 10,000 fleas for the tyranny they want to place us under!!!
