How Stress Causes Miscarriage
Hormonal Effects on Certain Cells May Trigger Chain Reaction to End Pregnancy
Or are you of the opinion that rape isn't stressful or may cause hormonal imbalances that cause a woman to have a miscarriage?
A doctor from Washington University Medical Center was just interviewed on the local news affirming what Todd Akin said — that pregnancy after a rape is very rare.
So why request data if your a prior assumption is that any such data will be unreliable because of the original sin of being a researcher who researches the subject?
As to the definition of rape, you can check their questions.

Has a man or boy ever made you have sex by using force or threatening to harm you or someone close to you? Just so there is no mistake, by sex we mean putting a penis in your vagina.
Has anyone ever made you have oral sex by force or threat of harm? Just so there is no mistake, by oral sex we mean that a man or boy put his penis in your mouth or someone penetrated your vagina or anus with their mouth or tongue.
Has anyone ever made you have anal sex by force or threat of harm?
Has anyone ever put fingers or objects in your vagina or anus against your will by using force or threats?
This study covered rape via force or threat of harm; they did not include any sort of consensual sex or sex through incapacitation as rape - force or threat of harm is rape rape to use the Whoopi definition.
Over 90% of all reported rapes are the type that use force according to the FBI. 8% are assaults involving rape attempts. There are statistically very few cases where a woman engages in sex “with enthusiasm” and then later decides she was raped.
So the fixation upon “consensual” rape is chasing after a statistical anomaly. But it is the type of thinking that leads one to hasten to specify “legitimate” rape or “rape rape”.

The National Population Office of Rwanda has
estimated that between 2,000 and 5,000 children were born out of forced impregnation during
the genocide and as a result of sexual violence during the unstable period that followed
Snip...The researchers say the body may recognize elevated cortisol levels as an alarm that conditions are unfavorable for pregnancy.
Wouldn't you say that hormonal imbalances due to stress would a "biological mechanism" that could shut that whole thing down?
I'm not a doctor so my "uneducated" guess would be...yes.
It doesn’t matter. This is all a contrived affair.
What a stupid question!
The part that makes absolutely no sense is the "female bodies can reject pregancy by rape"--- gotta say, having read that, he wasn't talking about "legally defined" victims of rape being given a choice to receive an abortifacient at the hospital (which is standard care now in most states, once consensual sex is ruled out, legally). This part was just plain weird.
He is not a lawyer and his choice of words and usage- "legitimate"-- he seemed to have meant, legally established. Term he should of used is "in cases of forcible rape". Needless to say there are Right to Life tenets that say ALL life is precious, even the progeny of rape victims. Not one I agree with, but that is apparently his stance. I am not informed enough to deal with the situation being stated that he got 2 mill worth of supporting ads from McKaskill during republican primary and the primary is an "open" one in which democrats voted for him in Repub. primary. States with closed primaries don't have this happen.
Finally, it may very well be he is not all that bright- but McKaskill is a for certain dim bulb lying apparatchik. This race needs to be fully financed with a sharp candidate to kick her out. This is like the Ted Stevens Alaska race where he insisted on staying. In any case, Romney and Scott Brown, being romneycare/obamacare supporters (yeah, romney's sop to state's rights is to be ignored regarding repeal) they should both shut up because they are pro-choice (and both have flip flopped on this). These are facts, Ann Coulter and the Log Cabin republicans aside. Distressing for someone to shoot themselves in the foot and "instant" media death blow.
...and his was a poor choice of words... and rambling, starting with talking about our reverence as Americans for all life.
So a poor choice of words and some rambling warrants throwing him under the bus?
IMO hidden motives are involved here. Too much of this is faked, auto-reactive, overreactive, partisan hackery with a definite liberal taint overall.
I too smell a rat, and hidden motives. This media circus driven sound bites 24 hour news cycle and throw away beliefs. Especially annoyed at Coulter and her queer Log Cabin book trade romneybot friends. The industry of politics disgusts me. I think in his heart of hearts, Akin is a normal Middle America family man, who voted against obamacare. I think brown and mitt are Massholes who are not going to make repeal of obamacare first priority at all-- because it is in place in MA already. They are RINOs pure and simple. This stinks. Were I to have a choice, I'd send some shrewd help and put Akins on the offensive-- distinguish McKaskill's abysmal economics and make the clear choice (as well as point out how much she loves killing babies). If they dump him, it will be uphill. I'd almost think they want to lose the seat to that idiot McKaskill. Mitt has to made to see this is for saving what is left of our Constitutional Republic--all the marbles. Certain that Rush, being from MO will have lots to say about this. Deo Vindice
Amen. Had Mitt done anything else the enemy would have pounced on it and used it as a talking point and another distraction for the rest of the campaign. As it is that fool Akin took a winnable race and probably lost it. Meanwhile, the RNC has given no support at all to Michele Bachmann’s race up in MN. I know it’s a separate topic, but what are they thinking?
Only when conservatives say stupid, indefensible remarks like Akin just did. You know, when the remark is so ridiculous that the election is lost in a split second. "Makaca" comes to mind.
