Good Evening, Canteen Ladies and Canteen Guys!
Here we are on another night in The Bunker and it’s lightning and rain here, with power flickering on and off.
Well, it finally happened: Sarge and The Bride went to their first Medieval Reenactment this weekend! Sarge wore a white fencing shirt and black cloak; The Bride wore a vivid green vest and great skirt, which shone forth her blue eyes and her smile.
There were hours of dancing, song, time at the Tavern, and finally Baronial Court, attended by the Baron and Baroness who hosted the event, and also by Her Royal Highness the Crown Princess of the realm.
What followed was the high feast. The feast hall was in the hall of a church, with a soaring fireplace and wood paneling; the effect was wonderful! The fare was Italian Renaissance, with three meat/veg courses and a dessert of fruit soup!
Sarge got no pics that day, but the group hosting the event plastered them all over Facebook. The Bride cringed when her pic showed up: someone caught her napping in the Tavern...
There was no swordplay involved this event, as it was all arts and gentility. But there will be other times and events, and this was only the first: more is yet to come!
Wow, what amazing memories of growing up! I can identify with the squirt gun episode. We just had 3 boys in the family, but we still managed to get into our fair share of mischief!
Was aboard USS Leahy (DLG-16) in Newport running EDO quals back in ‘74. The town treated me like a king every night.
Then I must rummage through Facebook and find said pictures! :)
Glad you and The Bride had a good time! :)
Thank you!!
Heh, you know how boys are! I had a lot of fun growing up as a military brat, even it it didn’t seem so much fun at the time...but we saw a lot.
USS Leahy was one of the most beautiful ships ever to sail under the US Flag.
My opinion, of course...:)
Thanks, Galz, for another night of learning about a cool place to visit where our heroes train! :)
Good evening, Sarge...((HUGS))...sounds like fun was had by all. Good for you and The Bride.
Good evening, Sand...((HUGS))...except for the broken part on your truck, did the rest of your busy day go well?
Sounds like you had a good time. I just finished the night shift and decided to check in. Send the rain to Texas.
Good morning, Mayor...thanks for today’s sustenance for body and soul. ((HUGS))
Still have house guests?
It rained earlier so the smoke has cleared. But, the mosquitoes are back. LOL!
Fire still burning earlier today. The area the fire is burning may have unexploded ordnance so, I predict they will let it burn and hope for more rain.
Yes the rest of the day went well,...((HUGS))...Have a job Open House to go to tomorrow, cross your fingers that something comes from it.
Mosquitoes! Don't let them carry you away!!
Good idea to let that area burn.
Thank you for doing your part to help keep all of us free and safe.
Thanks, unique, for the pastries.
Coffee is always on........
How about a donut?
Cookies?
Veggies?
Sandwich?
