Her husband took the stand during the punishment phase of the trial and asked the jury to give his wife probation for the sake of their children.
He said he was very angry and hurt by his wife's actions, but admitted the two of them have had group sex with other consenting adults in the past.
He also said people who call him an idiot for wanting to remain married to her just don't understand.

Look, I am totally against this woman going to jail on the issue of “harm” to the 18 year old young men. Please, at that age we all know we all were looking for “anybody” to have sex with other than ourselves! So, no harm to the young men!
But, and it is a big BUT, I can’t think of a more important roll in our society (or what remains of it) than a teacher! For betraying her contract and the community’s trust, she should go to jail. And, in Texas, there is a 3 for one deal. This means on good behavior she will only serve about one third of her sentence or about one and one half years. I think that’s about right for betraying a community’s trust and her contract. If her old man “stands by his woman”...........kudo’s to him!

Two motives: why she would think it was OK to do this, and why her absentee husband would then stand by her side. Here’s the reason: this sort of behavior was not unusual for them; it just happened that this time (a) he was out of town and (b) she made the mistake of picking partners who were legally out of bounds for her. Otherwise, they were both into orgies, so neither found it problematic that she held one in the same home where they were raising small children. This is Obama’s America.
