SurveyUSA: Only 35% of Missourians Say Akin Should Stay in Race (someone took the poll)
The Weekly Standard ^ | 08/20/2012 | John McCormack

Posted on 08/20/2012 9:00:50 PM PDT by jocon307

A SurveyUSA poll conducted Monday finds that only 35 percent of Missouri adults think Akin should stay in the Senate race, while 54 percent of Missourians think he should drop out. Akin has until 5:00 p.m. Tuesday to drop out of the race.

SurveyUSA also asked respondents: "The candidate who made the comments, Todd Akin, now says that he mis-spoke. Do you think he mis-spoke?" Only 32 percent say that Akin misspoke, while 52 percent say he did not.

The Weekly Standard reports on the results of a poll, boding ill for Akin.

I know many wished to see such polling, well here it is.

I repeat my many calls of today: AKIN NEEDS TO GO.

Sorry dude, maybe it isn't fair, but it is what it is.

How many of those 35% intend to vote for him? Probably much less...

29% Republican
29% Democrat
38% Independent

Where is the poll of Democrats to see who the replacement candidate should be?

(1) Akin is not running in a GOP primary race anymore, he is now running in general election where voters of all stripes will vote. His 11 point lead will disappear faster than Obama’s college thesis.

(2) Joe Miller in AK; Hoffman in NY-23; Sharron Angle in NV; Christine O’Donell in DE; Buck in CO; JD Hayworth in AZ; George Allen in VA were all good and decent candidates. Why are they not in power? What power losers in election have? Zip Zero, Nada.

(3) Pres Reagan famously said he will vote for the most conservative candidate WHO CAN GET ELECTED. Very smart man!

(4) Future of Obamacare can very well hinge on MO senate seat, that is how important this is.

Conclusion...for the sake of Party, for the sake of Country, Akin must step down. Tomorrow morning is not soon enough.

I think the biggest problem is if he stays in, Republicans sit home. I don’t know that they would vote McCaskill in droves. I’m so disgusted by Akin it would be the first Dem vote I cast in my 50+ years of voting.

13% of those who identified themselves as Republicans in this poll said that “these comments reflect the views of ... most Republicans”

37% of Democrats responded “these comments reflect the views of ... most Republicans”

24% of Independents responded “these comments reflect the views of ... most Republicans”

Also, the poll indicates 44% were pro-life respondents and 51% “pro-choice”.

yup. Democrats love this guy and would certainly vote for him to stay in. I would wager that 99% of those 35% were democrats.

“Tomorrow morning is not soon enough.”

Clearly he should have dealt with this today.

But, I suppose he felt he had to try and redeem himself.

So, he fell on his face on Hannity’s radio show (I heard it, dreadful, I keep saying that word, but it means what I think it does).

He also went on with Huckabee, I don’t know how that went, but there was no redemption.

I also hear he was going to be on with Piers Morgan (?!?!?!), stood him up and got the “empty chair” treatment.

So, I think it is safe to say NOTHING has improved for him today. 24-48 hours to get the foot out of your mouth, leg still down throat, hop away! hop away!

I mean, he can’t be SO STUPID to think we’ll shut up, can he be? Because I for one won’t.

I could cheerfully strangle this guy.

Sometimes life is a bitch.

Joe biden, in the deep South, says a totally racist Neanderthal phrase
invoking slavery to an African-AMerican audience. The VP gets sent home
early for the weekend to Delaware and the national media keep laughing.
Old Crazy Joe.

This new Missouri candidate says he mispeaks and now Republicans
rape women or something.

It’s not fair.

But Obamacare shoved down our throats wasn’t fair. Calling, Protesting,
going to washington, faxing. They didn’t care.
They didn’t even care it would cost them the majority.

Gentleman, ladies.

This is open warfare.

One side is the enemy to the Founding Fathers. To the legacy of Reagan.
To our entire American way of life.

If we do not get 51 Senators who will vote to repeal Obamacare,
the USA as we have known it is over.

SO I don’t care about sorry ass Todd Akin a two bit Congressman
from Podunk.

You have clearly shown you cannot compete in the big leagues, even
though you won a primary.

GET your ass out of the MO race by tomorrow 9am. Period.

Paul Ryan knows exactly how to use budget reconciliation rules
to repeal most of Obamacare with 51 Senate votes.

WE need 51. Let’s roll.

How can this be?

I was told by another FReeper just a few short hours ago that Akins was up by 11%.

Another FReeper told me that unless I live and Vote in MO, my opinion doesn't count, so you can disregard this Post.

Sometimes you just have to laugh.

Akin’s ego must be on a high after the bruising primary win. I hope and pray his thinking brain will understand the dire situation he has created and MAN UP...which means step down before he becomes a pariah in GOP.

“Sometimes you just have to laugh.”

Yeah, but not now. As “Ace of Spades” put it, this is a deadly goddamned serious business, or words to that effect.

He was up 11% BEFORE his recent remarks.

Now he’s up by 1, I think.

And yeah I kind of get that we should stand together, but I’m sorry in this case I can’t. It’s reminding me of Harriet Meiers. That woman was a dolt, I never got how Bush thought she was SCOTUS material.

I think he got a pass on that, which was really thanks to our bleating that her name was withdrawn.

My goodness these pols need constant monitoring!

Exactly my point. I had the 11% number thrown back at me when I said he should quit.

My reply was simply wait and see. Well, it only took a day or two and the die is cast. Change Candidates or we lose, certainly MO and maybe regaining the Senate.

I’ll hope for the best as we all will.

Thanks for demonstrating how far the Democrat abortion agenda has subverted the populace in general.

I don’t even see this as being about abortion exclusively. If he stays in, he and his views will become the focus of this entire election and we will all have to defend what is clearly indefensible to the vast majority of Americans. you would have to be seriously stupid to want that unless you’re a Democrat in which case you’re loving it. This won’t go away. Todd Akin is a toxic candidate that will infect every other republican candidate in the 2012 election; furthermore, he was never the tea party candidate anyways. Sarah Steelman was and remains our pick so if this gives her a second chance, all the better.
