Focus of Presidential Campaign Shifts Away From Economy
NY TIMES ^ | 8/21/12 | Richard W. Stevenson

Actually, it’s not the economy. At least not this week.

A presidential campaign that Republicans wanted to be focused relentlessly on President Obama’s job-creation record seems to be about almost everything else at the moment.

In part that’s the result of a monthslong effort by the Obama campaign to shift attention to Mitt Romney’s wealth and business record.

In part it’s the result of what now appears to be a strategic shift by Mr. Romney, who had spent much of this year hammering home his credentials as Mr. Economic Fix-It. His choice of Paul D. Ryan as his running mate has elevated conservative approaches to Medicare and budget cutting to the forefront of the election debate, crowding out a more direct focus on jobs and economic growth. It suggests that Mr. Romney is more interested in motivating his base than winning an economic argument for the allegiance of a dwindling number of undecided and independent voters.

Aw, isn't it cute when you see the increasingly irrelevant NY TIMES shill for Obamugabe? Notice how this "journalist" called Romney "Mr. Fix-It", the very same phrase Obamugabe used to denigrate Mitt's private sector experience.

Is it possible that budget cutting, deficit reduction and fixing Medicare will play an important roll in fixing the problems of low growth and lack of jobs? Of course not...to the NYTs, they would have had an equally negative take if Romney stayed focused solely on the jobs and economy topics saying he isn't offering specific solutions or addressing the issues of deficit spending and entitlements. It is always a lose-lose with the media leftists.

Anyone who can’t see the link between our disastrous entitlement debt and the economy isn’t fit to write opinion pieces for the NYT. This Democrat rag can’t connect the dots between excessive nanny-statism in Europe and the economic mess it’s in, or it simply chooses to ignore it because it gives the lie to Socialism.

Translation: "These substantive attacks by Romney and Ryan on Obama's massive gutting of Medicare are really damaging to Obama. They prevent people from focusing on Obama's only argument for fixing the economy: 'Mitt Romney needs to show more tax returns'."

I love when I see things like “ His choice of Paul D. Ryan...”

Do they ever refer to Barack H. Obama? Or, heaven forbid, Barack Hussein Obama?

If republicans, and people of conscience would stop buying newspapers, watching nbc, cbs, abs, cnn, msnbe.., stop going to Hollywood movies and buying their music, it would hit them hard. Where are the rich republicans willing to buy these newspapers, networks.... ? I don't know if they would sell, but if we get a republican in office, they need to get control of the FCC and level the playing field. It will take someone willing to be criticized and maligned, but would stand firm. Wait did I say a republican willing to be criticized and stand firm? I don't know if they exist, but I wish we could find some now. They need to quit caring what the leftist think of them and fight.

THEY have shifted it off the economy, and onto whether or not some schmuck from Missouri stayed awake in high-school biology class.

So the NYT ridicules Romney for selecting an intelligent, serious, acknowledged expert on the budget and economic matters that are THE critical issues for our nation’s future, but gives Obama a pass for putting Joe “Chains” Biden, international laughingstock, a heartbeat away from the Presidency. Could these choices demonstrate a greater difference in the candidates, their judgement and priorities?

As to “Mr. Fix It” — no one on Earth would ever call Obama that...
