This does not mean that Obama was born in Kenya. Instead, what it does mean is that on April 3, 2007, his publisher said that he was "born in Kenya."
In 2012, a former employee of his publisher said that this was a "fact checking error" that happened in 1991.
If this was a "fact checking error," where did this false information originate?
Why did this false information remain in place for sixteen years?
Why did it only get corrected when Obama announced that he was running for President?
I work in publishing. Our authors receive questionnaires for us so that we may write their bios, unless they have established bios. Either Barack was born in Kenya or he told people he was born in Kenya. George O’Leary was fired at Notre Dame for fabricating his resume. Doesn’t sound any different to me.

It is incomprehensible that they keep hammering on the possibility that he was born in Kenya. It’s all smoke and mirrors.
But nobody pays attention to the fact that his father NEVER was a US citizen.
Is there not one congresscritter who fully understands the meaning of being a ‘natural born citizen’ or is it just that their jobs are more important to them than the welfare of this nation?

Obama’s father: Overstayed his student visa, and used two differnt DOB’s on government paperwork.
Obama’s illegal immigrant aunt: Using public housing in Boston, the result of falsified paperwork.
Obama’s half brother: Found to possess multiple SS numbers....the result of falsified paperwork.
Obama as a child in Indonesia: Attended a government sponsored school, reserved for citizens....maybe not falsified paperwork, if Soetoro adopted Barry, but would make Barry inelegible to be POTUS...so the only other possibility is mom falsified paperwork.
Falsifying paperwork, in order to work the system is in Barry’s DNA.
I think he was born in Hawaii. I also think Barry lied on student aid forms and said he was from Kenya. Its something that would make mom and dad proud...and all his other deadbeat freeloading relatives. There is no way his bio page said he was from Kenya (for 16 years), without Barry’s approval. So there you have it, Barry is the FIRST birther.

Yeah, I was wondering if something had happened since the last time this went around.
I have no idea how to find it but at various times people have posted here at FR news articles from his past referring to him as the “African-born senator from Illinois”. Several, from a variety of publications.
Which doesn’t mean he was born in Africa but does mean at one time it suited him for people to think he was born in Africa. Gave him a patina of exotic, perhaps, made him more interesting than he was.
Then when it no longer suited him to be known as “african born” all that disappears and now if you take him at his (former) word, you’re the crazy one.
No, what it means is that Obama filled out the biographic sketch stating he was born in Kenya, gave it to the publisher and approved it for publishing. Was he lying then or is he lying now? Either way, he's a liar.
Early in our search there were several. Some disappeared before we could capture or send to others. As we searched they became fewer and then only in off shore publications. Personally found three: Two in African article and one in Indonesia.
At one time there was a CSpan video/Alan Keyes. Then it too was edited out. The Way-Back machine SHOULD have a plenty of such articles.
He, along with Hillary, was on the six member Senate Committee to determine if McCain met the definition of Natural Born Citizen. That committee brought in Chertoff and all seven (including McCaskill who wants it struck from the Constitution) that the definition was being born in the US or US soil and of TWO US CITIZEN PARENTS. He agreed to the definition (hey, wow, there really is a definition, Congresscritters!) and signed off on the committee's findings. That was Senate Resolution 511 which was approved by the Senate to which he signed his name to once again. Funny how McCain was vetted but this clown wasn't, huh. Gee whiz, wonder why that slipped passed Congress in '08 and continued to swept under the rug now four years later. It couldn't be because they all were a party to treason against us and they all have skeletons they don't want brought out causing them to lose their fancy pants offices along with all the perks.
It was probably forgotten as ancient history until one of Obama's handlers found it and had an "aw sh!t" moment. They quickly tried to make it go away - but not before the older versions were cached in the Wayback Machine. BTW you're absolutely correct: the information, whether the truth or a lie, could only have come from Obama. Too bad the lapdog media won't put Obama or Carney on the spot about it.

Many in the socialist democrat party must be prosecuted for making the FOREIGNER’S ELIGIBILITY SCAM possible. There are documents that were submitted that were fraudulently altered to fool government officials into believing he was qualified. The MSM worked in full compliance with those involved.

Instead of trying to run out a conservative Senate candidate in Missouri....maybe its time for so-called “Conservative” talk-radio and GOP media to start treating the Obama Eligibility issue much more seriously. At least, we would have explanation for all these Obama “birth” issues...instead of more questions.
Has anyone interviewed any of the vast numbers of authors with blurbs on this list, to find out how THEIR bios were produced? If the responses for authors who first had bios in the same time frame that Obama’s “born in Kenya” language first appeared demonstrate a pattern (e.g., submitting a bio you wrote yourself; answering a questionaire, etc.), that would be quite relevant. Typical industry practices, crap some employee says in 2012, etc., are not definitive.
Obama manages to hide from the obvious question some “courageous journalist” needs to ask: “Did you submit your own bio to Dystel & Goderich when you started promoting the book that became Dreams?” My guess is that Obama has told this born-in-Kenya lie so many times that he almost believed it himself until it became inconvenient.
I have read that Alan Keyes' Chief of Staff has denied that any such video exists. I would keep claims of the existence of this video in the "maybe" category.
It is annoying that you posted this old information. Those of us who make a point to keep up with this issue are well familiar with this bit of data.
His bio was written for his first book which wasn’t published. Dreams from my Father was his second book. I think his first book was his real memoir, the one that actually listed his birthplace as Kenya.
In a way, the editor was telling the truth that it was fact-checking error. She simply forgot to change the birthplace to match the new birthplace in his second book.
Dreams of my Father was a retelling of the first book, probably rewritten by Bill Ayers. So as not to hinder his political future, his birthplace was changed to Hawaii, even if it contradicted with a long paper trail.
Make no doubt about it, if you want to know the truth, you need to find a copy of Obama’s first unpublished novel...
Your points are well taken. It still amazes me, somehow, that the press can ignore the obvious — that the source of “born in Kenya” in the original marketing materials HAD to come from Obama, making him either a foreigner or a liar.
At the time the agent first printed a bio, Obama was a recent law school grad; he had no secretaries or official handlers. Where would the literary agent find “facts” about where the obscure Obama was born at this time? The agent’s possible sources of “born in Kenya” include: what Obama told the agents in interviews to get them interested in the book (assuming they didn’t approach him); a bio submitted by Obama; Obama’s responses to agents’ questions or forms; a bio from Obama’s Harvard/Law Review situation — of which Obama would be the source; or, an early abstract or sample chapters for the first book submitted by Obama himself. What other plausible sources would there be?
I think you are correct that the first attempted book used the Kenyan birth story, no doubt not for the first time. David Maraniss must have forgotten to ask the composite girlfriends if Obama ever told them where he was born.
