obviously not a huge conservative victory, but, if the D’s lose this seat, hard to see them eking out a majority....with or without Missouri.

Folks, I keep telling you forget the polls, forget MSNBC, forget Politico, forget the Obamabot mainstream media, focus only the the demographics that develop every single day. I warned the Democrat Party, they would rue the day they ever sided with anti-American, Barack Hussein Obama. They had their chance to broom him out of office, but opted to hang with him. Now....they will all go down with him.

Folks, watch and tune in the DNC coming and count how many Democrats up for re-election this year go anywhere near Obama!!!

And that was a “Republican” with conservative ratings of single digits to near zero...Lieberman defeated him if I’m recalling correctly ... who was actually more conservative than him.

Lots of Indies in CT - that’s how Lieberman got through. Just one poll, but another sign that Obama has lost a big slice of Indies nationwide.

Obama’s in a bind. He needs class warfare to rev up his base, but class warfare turns off Indies. Indies like “hope and change”, not Romney is a felon and a murderer.

According to the chart posted yesterday-—and I can’t find the thread-—we were already +6 (not counting MO). So this would be +7 (or 52, not counting MO). There are some wild cards-—Mack seems to be losing-—and HI, but I don’t see any way we get to 60 under the most incredible turnout.

Latest Senate ranking chart:

I moved MO down into Toss Up/Lean D area (until the dust settles) and moved CT up into the same. WV looks like a lost cause because even though Romney will take WV by a huge margin, voters will cross over and vote for the pretender Manchin. So I moved that to next to the last place.

I think McCaskill may overplay her hand refusing to at some point drop Akin’s stupid statement. At some point, it becomes obvious that’s all she’s got. Akin needs to focus on her extreme left-wing record and how she was the vote that gave us Obamacare even though MO constituents didn’t want it!

I am thinking you may be right. The conditions are so toxic for D's this year Akin may still win.

Even if he don't we can still pick up enough seats to create a working Conservative super majority in the US Senate for the 1st time in my life.

There are enough D senators in red and purple states that are going to be under a lot of pressure to work with the R's if Romney/Ryan win a significant victory in Nov.

I’ll take it if we can win it. This is a sizable shift for CT. I’d like to see some real conservative shift like we’ve seen in Maine but baby steps are better than no steps. The NE and West Coast are going to take years to rehabilitate from their love affairs with leftwing socialism but it can happen.

I wouldn’t bet on either HI or NM at the moment (Heather Wilson has consistently trailed, although it isn’t impossible for her to win). I’m not writing off MO, either. I’ve also refused to jump on the dump Akin bandwagon. I’ve been disgusted at the mass hysteria where Akin is concerned and the maligning of the character of a good man and excellent Congressman.

Yes, it appears that Linda has learned a lot from her previous run. She's been running some GREAT attack ads on Chris Murphy - one just ran on the radio during Rush's break.

Also, CT residents aren't being buried by slick pamphlets coming in the mail *daily*. Linda really over-did the mailings in 2010. We must have received over 5 lbs. of mailers from the Linda campaign then... it was overkill.

I do have some hope for this race, but I wouldn't bet on it. As always in CT, if the democRAT in the race doesn't have enough votes to win on election night - mark my words - they will "find" enough votes for the RAT to win.

That's exactly how our Marxist Gov. Malloy got elected in 2010. A "bag of votes" was found in the union 'RAT stronghold of Bridgeport, CT. Those "found votes" easily pushed Malloy over the top. Politically speaking... Connecticut sucks.

And the (R) in 1989 was Lowell Weicker who was famously opposed by National Review and Bill Buckley.

Previous to Weicker, the last possibly REAL Republican was.... wait for it .....

Prescott BUSH, 1952 through 1963, G.H.W. Bush 41's FATHER!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_Senators_from_Connecticut

Ha!

"Finally, conservative animus spilled into overt support for Joe Lieberman in 1988, both from national sources such as National Review (publisher William F. Buckley, Jr., and his brother, former New York Senator James Buckley, both endorsed and campaigned for Lieberman in 1988), but more importantly, from rank-and-file Connecticut Republicans irate with Weicker's effort to make the local party more liberal and prevent the nomination of conservatives to state office, and the poor showing of Weicker-backed candidates in the1986 elections. Weicker was defeated in the 1988 election by less than 1% of the vote, owing in large part to defections by Republicans to Lieberman."

It looks like the GOP is at 52, even without MO (though I think that would be including FL...which I think will go GOP actually).

Weicker does not count. Therefore, there has been no Republican US Senator from Connecticut since Abraham Ribicoff defeated Prescott Bush (Dubya's grand daddy) in 1962. Prescott Bush was not an ideological pillar of strength either. William Purtell was appointed to the Senate by then Governor John Davis Lodge in 1952. He was elected to the other Senate seat that year for a full term and was defeated by Thomas J. Dodd in a Democrat national landslide in 1958. Senator Purtell was arguably the last genuinely GOP US Senator from Connecticut although Senator Prescott Bush may be viewed as the last.

Connecticut Republicans would be wise to view Weicker as non-existent. Whatever Weicker was as a Senator, the word Republican, if it has any meaning, does not fit.

Here in blue CT, I am seeing McMahon signs along the roads, not a lot but consistantly seeing them.

I have not seen one Murphy sign, not a single one.

Murphy may be holding back until after Labor Day, but McMahon definately has the early edge in advertising & mailings. She has some big buy ads running in Hartford, New Haven, & NYC media markets. Just an observation..

She has been running excellent ads.

During the primary season, all her ads explained who she was. No attacks on other republicans. No negative ads. Very positive.

Now that she won the primaries, she is attacking Chris Murpy’s attendance record. This angle was very effective in Joe Lieberman ousting Lowell Weiker 20 years ago. And it is very convincing today.

We’ve had three visits from people canvassing for her. I think it’s interesting that each time, the canvasser was a young college-age kid. Good for them to be involved with politics at such an early age.

Wilson is a slight underdog in my view. NM was a first tier race last time I checked.

I would not put her under Linda M unless there are a few more polls showing Linda M in such good shape. I also had her above Pete H in Michigan.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen a NM Senate poll actually. New POTUS poll has Obama up big there.

We're big Martha Dean fans as well. She speaks at Tea Party events in CT, ie the (usually) annual April 15th Tea Party at the state capitol.

Also... she's quite active on Facebook. If you're on FB as well, definitely "friend" her.
