You may have a small point, paudio, but I need my embroidery magnifiers to see it.

If we fail to be a moral nation, we will not have leaders who care much for morality. And, guess what. We are no longer a moral nation, and we have leaders in both parties who cannot be trusted with our life, liberty, and property rights.

They all care more about re-election than principles, care more about favorable coverage in the despicable press than their personal honor, and have no shame when caught raping or committing sodomy.

And we are supposed to shut up, be polite, and keep on sending in half of our incomes.

Where, I wonder, do you draw the line? And, when?

He was not considering the larger need and benefit to the country when he selfishly decided to fight on. His mere presence keeps the issue alive for the democrats.

Oh, Pshaw! If not him, who? The Dimwits would have found someone to shoot, this guy just had his head up a little higher than the other gophers when a distraction was needed. This is good as it serves as a warning for others; the press is not your friend.

Although I’m pro-life, sometimes prolifers can be so solely single-issue focused that they wear blinders for every other conceivable issue (economy, jobs, debt, national security, expanding leviathan of the Federal Govt, obamacare, etc). Brown is running in MASSACHUSETTS, not Texas. He has to play somewhat to that audience. Don’t like him being squishy on the abortion issue? Then, let’s elect pro-infanticide Elizabeth Warren - the closest politician to Karl Marx running at any level in this election!

Geez, let’s try to have some degree of perspective here. Want that strict anti-abortionist? Then get ready to live with Demo-Marxists, pro-infanticide politicos ruling your life. “But we stood on our principles...”

I cannot vote for him, but I will withhold my vote if I were living in MO. He’s not ready for the senate, no matter how long he’s been in the House

Are you serious? Have you paid any attention at all to our Congress? You don't think Akin could rise to these standards? My French Poodle could rise to the standards for national office.

You are so right.

The right could take this and turn it into a subject Obama wants to talk about even less than the economy; infanticide and partial-birth abortion.
We have him on tape when he was in the senate saying it a baby is born alive, let it die.

What kind of heartless person would want to know they side with a person like that? If the gop got a spine they could open people's eyes to the Hitler like person Obama is.

This could turn into a real positive, but I think the problem is the gop. They want to move left. Why else would they push someone who already says he's for gay marriage, thinks Boys Scouts should allow gays and for abortion for rape or incest. I worked so hard over the years for so many campaigns & now I can't even vote for the republican candidate. I always wanted to be a delegate, and put my name in and got it. Then when it looked like romney was going to win, I dropped out. Oh, about the folks on FR losing their moral compass. There are many actual Romney fans that come and go. Most people say their holding their nose to vote Romney do I was surprise to find people who liked him. One night, actually early one morning I was going through the threads and read how one of the guys worked the Romney campaign & another made a statement like, I can't believe you were in the same room and meeting with him......all starry eyed. My finger in is down my throat. So, some of those we debate are working.

Do we really need more idiots in the senate?

Only if the idiots want to be in the majority there.

So then the GOP establishment is willing to shoot itself in the foot and lose the Missouri Senate seat rather than support him and win it.

What you call shooting in the foot I call limiting the damage that has been inflicted by him. I absolutely think the RNC national Republicans should play hardball and take the strategic risk of publicly disowning him and the RNC and Republicans PACS should tell him in no uncertain terms will he be getting a dime until he realizes he needs to withdraw. It is one game of chicken worth playing to see if we can win that seat with a replacement pro lifer and limit the national damage. Otherwise the seat is gone as well as the damage he will cause over the next 10 weeks..

“So that is what this is all about. You all just don’t want him in the Senate.

It’s not that he can’t win. It’s that he can win. And that is what you don’t want.”
*******************************************************************
You are deluding yourself every bit as much as Akin is deluding himself. If you check my post history you’ll see that I supported Akin (after Sarah Steelman lost to him in the primary—she was my pick prior to that) after his major league gaffe. It was only after I saw how he handled himself (actually how he was COMPLETELY UNABLE to handle himself) afterwards that I realized he was completely unable to do anything but take his campaign (and our hopes for a new conservative Republican from Missouri come Jan 2013) down in flames. From that point on I clearly recognized that the ONLY way to get McCaskill out was to get Akin out as her opponent. And he has clearly demonstrated, contrary to his words, by his actions that HE IS NOT ABOUT PRINCIPLE, HE’S ONLY ABOUT HIS SELF-CENTERED AMBITIONS. He is rapidly becoming beneath all contempt. I’m sorry that you are not able to recognize this reality.

“Sometimes I wonder about the folks here on Free Republic. Have you collectively lost your moral compass?

How is compounding one horrible crime (assault rape) with another (murdering an innocent little life) justifiable. And, I am a woman, a mother of four, with 2 daughters.”

This isn’t about that. The question is his views on rape and how woman are really raped or not really raped based upon whether they get pregnant or not.

If you can accept abortion you aren’t pro life.

Akin should withdraw in favor of a conservative who has not committed a fatal gaffe.

Right. Like you have never made a mistake and kept on going. Why do you hold a politician to a higher standard than yourself?

Look what the house gave Obama this week.

House Republicans Help Give Obama Even More Power

Ninety-five House Republicans recently voted with Democrats to pass the Presidential Appointment Efficiency and Streamlining Act of 2011. This monstrosity of a Bill was introduced by über liberal Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and allows El Presidente Obama to make appointments of key staff for many government departments such as Treasury, Education, NOAA and Homeland Security without Senate approval.  That’s right folks..without Senate approval.

In other words, this Bill makes it much easier for Obama to stack the deck with his liberal minions without any Senate oversight. Given his sordid history of gutting Welfare Reform and Immigration Laws, we can just imagine what Obama will do with this new power. This is another example of Republi-Dem malpractice in that Republicans worked with Democrats to pass this ominous Bill last month by a 261-116 vote. Obama signed it on August 10.

Why do people continue to call this a gaffe?

He was just stating his deeply held views on rape.

I think Akin had the gun pointed a little higher when he pulled his trigger.

It sounds like its part of that idiotic no labels thing. They’re “bi partisan” marxists in my opinion. Be sure to check out their plan for making the presidency work under the “our work” dropdown.

http://www.nolabels.org/

At this point it sure looks to me like both parties are working from the same script.

not to worry...just gives all the more reason for We the People just to defund the entire mess.

In fact, inevitably, the bond market will come to our aid in that regard..at some point

I think if you were being gang raped by the opposition and your own party, you would be a little shaken as well.
