Biden: Republicans have 'discovered the middle class' Posted by CNN Political Reporter Shannon Travis

Detroit (CNN) – In front of a friendly audience, Vice President Joe Biden repeated a crowd-pleasing political attack against Republicans on Wednesday – with a new level of sarcasm.

"It's amazing, they discovered the middle class," the vice president said mockingly against his rivals. "And they care about it. They're running to save the middle class."

Biden began the swipe by referencing the tough economic conditions the Obama administration inherited when it took office – a situation brought on by Republican policies, Biden claimed.

It was one of many seemingly ready-made applause lines Biden laid out for an audience of over 1,100 supporters – mostly African Americans - at Renaissance High School in inner city Detroit. It was the second of a two-day campaign swing that began in Minnesota on Tuesday.

Those at the Detroit event expressed their agreement with several of the vice president's points. At the beginning of his remarks, the crowd even booed the first mention of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

"No, no, no," Biden said, attempting to tamp down the jeers. "I disagree with him on almost everything, politically. But he's a decent man."

Yet, Biden stoked the audience displeasure with political attacks.

"audience of over 1,100 supporters – mostly African Americans"

The remainder were Unionistas, planted as an audience, and Biden failed to mention the Billions that were spent bailing out the Union's Pension funds, paying off Banking Interests, and handing donors "Green Energy" dollars to the Exec's, who then fled and left the "middle class workforce" un-employed.

Yeah; Democrats protect the middle class alright, with OTHER PEOPLE'S EARNINGS RE-DISTRIBUTED, while they have NO JOBS because the asshat in the White Hut wants DEPENDENCY, across-the-board.

I can understand that Joe thinks the people in the audience are middle class. But do they think they’re middle class?

The Republican Party is largely made up of the middle class, buffoon.

The Middle Class, as originally defined, consisted of doctors, lawyers, small business owners, and people of similar income level.

The scale was : working class, who worked for a paycheck; middle class, who worked for themselves; and upper class, who lived off investments rather than needing to work.

The political calculus must be to be send Biden around being a total ass in order to goad Romney or a surrogate into taking a metaphorical swing at him. Then the country will feel sorry for poor old Joe and resent the puncher.

True. I was talking in the more broadly accepted sense, of those who are not on welfare up to the slightly wealthy.

I think that the best definitions are that there are “the poor” - consisting of people who are willing to accept being patronized as such by the rich, the rich, willing to patronize people who are beneath their economic level, and there are the middle class, consisting of people who do not wish to patronize anyone and who, reciprocally, reject being patronized by anyone. The Democrat Party is the party of the poor and also of the rich. The middle class needs the Republican Party to protect it politically from both the poor and the rich. Country Club Republicans don’t always seem to accept that necessity.

I hope Biden keeps talking in public.

Hey Joe, take a look at the 2009 march on Washington. That was over a million middle class moms, dads, teachers, and workers of all kinds. We are still here and we dang sure aren’t Democrats!!!

Who woke this guy up, anyway?

How long ago was it that he was talking to fellow Democrats about “the forgotten middle class?"
