We had a Nazi in the cycle ahead of us at Basic Combat Training, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, back in the Summer of 1978. They kept him busy painting murals in the orderly/arms room while he waited for his bad conduct discharge. We’d see him every time we went to get our M-16s. Not a new thing.
Hassan has not even gone to trial for “workplace violence” yet!

He was in the Army for six years, and was kicked out 15 years ago.
So what is the rationale for making his line of work 15 years ago the Homeric epithet used to describe him?
Why is "former soldier" the default description, as if somehow it is the most important fact about him?
If he had just exited the service it might make some sense, but 15 years ago?

There are many gangs that are utilizing military basic training as THEIR basic training, often times they’ll go and get trained and then find some way to get chaptered out and get back to the gang lifestyle, newly educated on combat tactics. There’s more than a few who deliberately fail on drug tests, making it easy to get in and get out.
The headline says US Army fights “racists” and the body of the story mentions ONLY white racists as if black racists dont exist.

Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd BCT Brigade. But I don’t know if he painted any others. Seem to remember something like the Magnificent Hulk rapelling from a helicopter or some such.
I think they changed a lot of the units around, I was with the 82nd Chemical Battalion which came over from Ft McClellan a few years before I got to Wood. I remember how we were all excited to go on leave after Basic, we got out into Waynesville and discovered that the whole town basically congregated at the Wal-Mart. Needless to say it was a pretty big letdown. :)
I was held over a few days after BCT and was tasked to clean the entire drill sergeant’s school along with a couple of other privates. We were given a weekend pass for our good work and went to the Lake of the Ozarks for a few days. Never even saw Waynesville, but they probably didn’t even have a Wal-Mart back then. AIT at Fort Huachuca was much more fun. And don’t get me started on Korea.

My brother, who is much older than I, explained to me when I got old enough to understand, what treason happened in Viet Nam. He was a soldier at that time. He told me the politicans snuggled up to the enemy until the enemy was of more value than American life.

Yep. All my family who are in the military have either already gotten out or are in the process. I have family who have been in over twenty years, not because they were geting rich from it but because they love this country and wanted to serve her, even under such leaders as Carter. They’re out. The younger ones are totally disillusioned by what’s happening and they are getting out.

Sure, because we wouldn’t want those Nazis getting out of hand and forming death squads again to line people up and shoot them.
I think we both know why the media leads with it. They want to reinforce a notion that veterans are more likely to crack up and become dangerously violent. Then, they can blame Republicans for starting wars that make veterans crazy and violent, and they can make the public fear veterans, who tend to be more conservative, and natural obstacles to many lib goals.
The younger ones are totally disillusioned by what’s happening and they are getting out.
But they should get out if they can! If they must stay in, pay attention to their own instincts about the people around them, rather than buying into and living and moving by the preachings of deadly, treasonous P.C. leaders.
They don’t have to announce it; just move by and arrange what makes sense to them. If American soldiers did this, they would not be dead having dinner with the treasonous worshiped enemy in this war.
That is what my brother did. He came home alive. He knew his commanders were in it for nothing he believed in. He was not fighting for the glory of communists. He hated communists. He was at war with communists. If the military was not at war with the communists, he was not at war with the military. He protected his comrades and survived the betrayal. That’s it.

I think they’ve bred enough cynicism that this nonsense doesn’t work much anymore. Blacks may believe it because it is better/easier to blame The Man (rather than themselves) for their shortcomings, but most whites (and ALL foreigners) know better. I live next to the Newark Welfare Reservation in NJ, and white guilt (if it ever existed) died when the whites in the suburbs were forced out of Newark 50 years ago. Some of those original refugees, and many of their children/grandchildren, still occupy those suburbs, and look at Newark as if it were Mordor. Nobody goes there unless to work, and they leave before sundown; if they see any of “them” on your suburban street, they immediately call the police - they are up to no good 99% of the time.

The AP was founded as a monopolistic entity, indeed was found to be in violation of the Sherman Antitrust Act in 1945 (if a very credible-appearing web site is to be believed), but even that is not the point. Because the internal logic of any wire services, even in the presence of real competition among services, is to promote the perception of “objectivity” of all journalists. When the newspaper’s editor wants to sell his readership a story off a newswire, he needs the readership to assume that the story represents reality. And yet the editor doesn’t even know the guy who wrote the story, much less employ him. So what is the editor to do, but to assure his readership that reporters can be relied upon? Even if there were major wire service competition for the AP, competing with the AP on the basis that the AP reporters weren’t as objective as those in your network wouldn’t be a good idea. It would put you at dagger’s point with all other wire services, who all need the credulity of the public, and every reporter not in your network would be out to undermine you.
So it is the wire service as such which produces the “objective” reporting. “Objective” belongs in scare quotes because, as we have seen, no journalist actually even knows that he is really objective. But the crucial fact is that you cannot even attempt to be objective without first being open about your own interests - and yet you cannot be open about what your own interests are when you are claiming that you do not have any interest. Which is what you are doing when you join an organization which claims that all of its members are objective. Arguing from the unwarranted assumption of your own superiority is sophistry.
Before the advent of the wire services, newsmen were flamboyant and notoriously didn’t agree about anything. Now newsmen unctuously promote the conceit that all are objective, which only means that they are all on the same page. All businessmen themselves, but all attacking any successful businessman who is not in their business. And all flattering socialist politicians that they are “liberal” and “progressive.” All cheap shot artists, unified by the fact that they are afraid to attack each other.
