Tampa police say they've confiscated bricks and pipes from a rooftop in Tampa, and discovered what they say is "anarchist" graffiti.
The anonymous symbol was spray painted, along with the number "99" in red paint.
All of it was found on top of a building at 1000 North Florida Ave., which is at the corner of Florida Avenue and Tyler Street.
"We are appreciative that the business owner called us," Tampa Police Chief Jane Castor said Tuesday afternoon.
"Finding those items for us was not a surprise," she added. "We are just pleased to see the communications process worked the way it did."
Occupy 'Welcoming Committee' Promises Violence at RNC
A video uploaded by an Occupier under the YouTube account VforVendetta12345678 shows anarchists and radicals have put together a "Welcoming Committee" to protest the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Tampa, FL on August 27-30, 2012.
Within the video the group states, "Black bloc and Anon Bloc tactics are being encouraged because some say liberal protests get nothing done" and that they are "In no way welcoming", while showing pictures throughout of anarchists performing various acts of vandalism.
They continue, "These protests often result in property destruction and clashes with police, when the more radical groups branch off. If you hope to "peacefully" protest your rights will be respected by radicals. If you are into social warfare, look for a group of people dressed in black."
The group says the protest will be massive and claims 20,000 plus. While they also encourage protesting the Democratic National Convention (DNC) , they say the RNC is much better due to its "high radicalization."

Well, that does explain something. I always wondered where angry mobs, especially rent-a-mobs, managed to get their bricks, pipes, rocks, etc., that they were chucking at the police (and everyone in line of sight). If you look around on most city streets, these aren’t items you’re generally going to see lying around in profusion. I have often wondered if there was someone back in the crowd with the brick concession, rock concession, etc., etc.
Looks like I might not have been terribly far off the mark.
At least the anarchist is being honest in his beliefs. :P
Note to republicans attending the convention: bring guns and ammo.

I thought about driving over the causeway to check it out. Im too old for that tomfoolery. Ill just watch it on tv. Grab some popcorn boys. Tampa ain’t playing and its going to be wet and sloppy.
Why didn't they give the owner's home address and phone number as well???
Plus, if I were the owner, I'd hire security for my building during the length of the convention.....then send the bill to the police department.

Hubby and I are staying on the Pinellas side of the bay too with snacks and TV on, except for one event near the Convention center on Tuesday evening in honor of our Military. :)
