..The Ukraine is considering a move to censor several children's shows after a new study from a conservative commission labeled the shows "a real threat" to the country's youth.
The Ukraine's National Expert Commission for Protecting Public Morality released the report, which attacks several U.S. and international programs as detrimental to the country.
Psychologist Irina Medvédeva is quoted in the study, alleging that children aged 3 to 5 years old, "pull faces and make jokes in front of adults they don't know, laugh out loud and repeat nonsense phrases in a brazen manner," after viewing the shows.
The Ukrainian paper Ukraínskaya Pravda reported on Thursday that some of the shows under fire include "Family Guy," "Futurama," "Pokemon," "The Simpsons" and "Teletubbies," which the report says are, "projects aimed at the destruction of the family, and the promotion of drugs and other vices."

While the accusations sound a bit silly, a 2011 study by a University of Virginia professor claimed that watching just nine minutes of SpongeBob could adversely affect the attention span and learning abilities of 4-year-olds... Some of the accusations leveled against the programming in the study: SpongeBob Squarepants: "gay"

This sounds like a parody of the Soviet Union. I wonder if Dr. Medvedeva sentenced people to years of psychiatric "treatment" for reading a smuggled book by Milton Friedman.
My 3 year old watches the same thing I watched at that age: Scooby Doo... the old 1950s version they still play on the Boomerang Channel. The newer cartoons are ridiculously stupid.

Can't say that I disagree. Our TV either promotes extreme tolerance and pacificsm and turns kids into little pushovers who believe standing up for yourself and your society are wrong(Teletubbies) or they are chaotic, anarchist shows where pretty much anything goes for laughs (Family Guy) and the more you slam middle class values, the bigger you expect the laugh line to be.
We took away all things Nick and, lo and behold, no more behavioral problems!
I’m not sure about “promotion of drugs”, since I don’t watch these newer cartoons. However, cartoons historically have seemed a bit iffy on that count. Popeye gained magic powers from “eating Spinach”, which he would sometimes consume with a pipe. The Smurfs lived in suspiciously psychedelic looking mushrooms and gained magic powers from eating “smurfberries”. The Gummi Bears would gain magic powers after drinking some magic drink they kept in bottles that were about the size of airplane liquor bottles.
So, yeah, I can see how stuff like that could raise eyebrows.
It’s not tv it’s the parents who allow their kids to watch trash who are to be blamed.

no Nick or Disney network for ours. DVDs with old yogi bear etc. cartoons is allowed, but no TV.
Nick shows and Disney shows for children, tweens, and teens all have their characters smart-off to adults. I’ve blocked a whole bunch of kiddie channels.
What about Disney? Almost every Disney feature has a kid who doesn’t respect their parents and disobeys them.
Regarding Disney:
Phineas and Ferb are it. Strangely, no behavior problems from that.
Also, not long after we instituted a poker chip system with penalties and rewards. That’s worked wonders too.
P&F are good boys — polite and industrious. So, that’s a good cartoon for kids I think
