Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, is locked in a neck-and-neck battle with Treasurer Josh Mandel in the Ohio Senate race, according to a new poll released Thursday by the University of Cincinnati.
Brown leads Mandel 48 percent to 47 percent in the survey, but the senator's advantage is within the poll's margin of error of plus-or-minus 3.4 percentage points. Five percent said they are undecided.
The results stand in contrast to a Quinnipiac University/CBS News/New York Times poll released earlier Thursday, which shows Brown leading Mandel 48 percent to 41 percent. The Cincinnati poll also yields better results for the GOP in the presidential race, showing President Obama and Mitt Romney in a statistical tie (49 percent to 46 percent) in the Buckeye State. In the Quinnipiac/CBS News/New York Times survey, Obama leads Romney 50 percent to 46 percent -- outside the margin of error of plus-or-minus 2.8 percentage points.
Brown is a top target of national conservative groups, who view his seat as a potential key to wrestling control of the Senate away from Democrats.

This is excellent. Josh Mandel gave a strange speech at a rally recently, in which I suppose he was trying to make a point, but got bad press. Hopefully, it’ll blow over quickly. Mandel will be a rising star if he wins this.

Poll is 26R 34D 34IND 6 don’t know LOL. This puts him n the lead if turnout is what I think it will be.
I hope we finally get rid of Brown. This a**hole won't take me off his e-mail list no matter how many times I tell him to do so!
Based on the last several years of elections in Ohio, I don’t think this is the correct split. Just look at 2010.
Let’s hope he avoids the fake accent in the future. I hope Mandel can win.

Same here. I was polled again today by a group out of Michigan. My vote went for Mandel.
I wrote Sherrod Brown an email during the healthcare debate and asked him to vote NO. He, of course, sent back (or one of his aides did) a form email in which he spewed his ridiculous talking points - then proceeded to be flown in by red-eye after his mother’s funeral to be the final nail in the coffin for obamacare.
I also told him if he voted for this, then I would do everything within me to replace him in 2012. I guess he didn’t take it seriously.
