>Could some doctor somewhere hold that opinion. Sure, doctors believe all sorts of stupid things. Lots of doctors tell you Statins are good for you. But that’s not he point. He repeated it as if he believed it. He was basing his position on abortion for rape victims on it.

You’re spinning when you say “in some cases, yes.” That could mean 1 in ten, one in a thousand, 1 in a billion. That is not what he said. He said pregnancy due to rape is rare, because a woman’s body somehow shuts down. That must mean that in the vast majority of cases, it is true. Do you believe that?<

In addition, Aikin’s idiot statement could be used to support the case for a pro-choice exception in the case of rape. After all, according to the good Congressman, such a pregnancy is exceedingly rare. Therefore, an exception to an anti-abortion rule could be made, since the procedure in this case might be needed in very rare instances.

The fact is, Obama and Co., in a desperate attempt to gin up support, has hammered away at the idea that republicans are in full on attack mode against women. If you stray away from FR (it’s a good idea to know one’s enemy) you will find the web littered with the insinuation that republicans want all women chained to the kitchen, barefoot and pregnant.

You must understand that many women swallow this idiot notion hook, line and sinker. They do not follow politics as most of us do. They get their information from facebook, or from the networks. And, they vote out of fear, because they “know” if the republicans get in, they will lose all access to healthcare. They “know” Obama cares about them because they do not bother to critically think.

Had Mr Akin kept his fool mouth shut, women might not have been galvanized to come out in far greater numbers to vote. But believe me, they’ll come out in force, because the politics of fear does indeed, work on gullible people who get their info almost totally from sources controlled by the MSM or the democrat party.

So, what do you believe? Is rape rare, because the female body shuts it down in case of “rare rape”. I don’t think that’s a hard question. I heard for years that masturbation makes you go blind, but I don’t believe it.

As far as Akin’s apology goes - The guy has been in Congress since 2000. During his tenure, opposition to abortion has been a significant cause of his. Now, suddenly, he has discovered that one of the ideas he is basing his stance on is nonsense? Please. Quite a profile in courage. As Leut. Flynn said on the Closer, “Apology accepted. Now quit.”
