The Heroic Romney Rescue That, For Some Reason, The Campaign Doesn't Talk About
Buzz Feed ^ | 8/23/2012 | Andrew Kaczinsky

It’s a story that’s not often told. Mitt Romney at his family’s summer home in Wolfeboro, N.H. on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee whisking into the night on a Jet Ski with two of his sons to rescue a drowning family of four, their two friends, and their dog.

On the weekend of July 4th, 2003, the Romney family was enjoying their picturesque summer home in New Hampshire on the shore of Lake Winnipesaukee. In the early evening, according to reports at the time, Craig Romney and his older brother Josh were cleaning up the beach while their father rummaged through the garage. Suddenly, screams from the lake broke the silence.

"We heard a whole bunch of screaming," Josh Romney told the Boston Herald. The Romney brothers and their father quickly raced to their Jet Skis. "We tore out of there and my dad hopped on the other Jet Ski and came out right after us."

The screams came from Robert Morrissey, of New Jersey, his wife, their two adult children, two family friends, and the family dog.

If it had been Obama, the press would still be talking about it today Had it been a Kennedy the MSM would be fawning and kissing feet...for the better part of 50 years... What a world...

Politics aside Romney is a good and decent man, not to mention a modest one.

I hope the PACS will do something with this and allow the story of his saving the family as well as the other stories of his humanitarianism to get around. It will go a long way in getting up his negatives.

Hell... Zero's got a 1/2 brother who still lives in a hut in Kenya.

His half brother had called D'Nesh D'Sousa because he needed $1.000.00 for an operation for his son. The half brother of Obama had no one else to call.

You or your surrogates have to make sure that stories like these are widely known. The Obama press corps isn’t going to bring them to light.

If Obama was there with Mobacaa they probably would have tried to grift what they could from the boat FIRST, and then worry about the drowining victims or most likly toss them a seat cushion and wish them luck.

"I never knew this story!"

Me neither, and in reading the comments section, someone posted:

"Romney as a young missionary in France took on a gang of would-be rapists to protect two young women at the risk of his own life. Later, having survived a car crash that killed his mission president's wife, Romney stepped up to handle day to day business of the mission so that the mission president could grieve. Romney is clearly a man of action who does not hesitate to put himself into harm's way for others. You cannot get more in touch with real people than that."

Another posted:

"Not the first heroic act by Romney either. He mobilized an entire team from his work office to find the missing daughter of a colleague."

Hadn't heard about either one of those, and wonder if any Freepers have.

I knew of the story where he helped saved the guys daughter.

Very impressive story in terms of how he gets things done FAST when in the pinch.

"Obama would have been like Mayor Nagin screaming and melting down and flailing away while the family drowned."

Bambi would have called the cops and complained that some people on the lake were making too much noise and disturbing his well-earned vacation. The guy won't even help his own brother. Why would anyone expect him to help a complete stranger?

Before we get too excited we need to know where Romney carried the dog on his jet ski.

Obama probably would have tried to steal the brass fittings off the sail boat knowing him and the First Grifter.

“I’m not a fan of Romney, few here really are, but this is a great story about him and his character.”

What’s also a great story about his character is his confirmed pathological lying throughout the campaign to cover up his past and present record, and his war against conservatives. It is a lie to suggest Mitt Romney has “good” character.

Here is your heroic Mittens getting all freaked out when his carefully crafted image is tarnished:

From what I know of Romney, I wouldn’t trust a single story that comes out of his mouth or of any of his surrogates. There’s no real way to verify the facts, and we know that Mittens is famous for his half-truths, full lies, and focus on carefully crafted images.

Thanks for ignoring all the lies this man has told over and over again and all the evidence pointing to a depraved, shallow character, to elevate this man to something he is not. Just goes to show that politics is more important than truth for lots of people.

There also are a bunch of stories about him helping people in smaller ways too.

Very true, and those actions are a measure of character. It's easy to find fault with positions of those running for office but I often wonder "would he make a good next-door neighbor or not?" He probably would.
