ATLANTA, August 24, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) - Conservative activists frequently bemoan the liberal bias of the mainstream media, but a heated encounter between CNN’s Anderson Cooper and Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz last night, has GOP supporters cheering.
During the exchange Cooper repeatedly presses Schultz about a recent fundraising letter from the DNC that attempted to link Mitt Romney to Todd Akin’s much-decried remarks about abortion and rape. The CNN anchor charges Schultz with misquoting the Los Angeles Times, misstating Romneys position on abortion, and falsely claiming that the Romney campaign is responsible for drafting the Republican Partys strongly pro-life platform.
Schultz, flustered by Coopers interrogation, appears unable to respond to his factual claims, and instead repeatedly attempts to shift the discussion, stating that it doesnt matter what the wording of the fundraising e-mail was, and that the bottom line is Romneys extreme views on abortion.
However, Cooper doesnt let up.
“I don’t understand why in a fundraising appeal you would, it seems, maybe accidentally, but you completely misquote the L.A. Times and you make it sound as if they’re saying something that they’re not saying, and you’re using that as evidence to back up your position,” the anchor says at one point.
Wasserman-Schultz responds, Anderson, it doesn’t matter.”
“It does, shoots back Cooper. It would matter if you’re misquoting the L.A. Times as saying something they didn’t say. You’re saying it’s proof of your position and it’s actually not proof of your position.”
In its article the Times reported, “Delegates for presumptive nominee Mitt Romney are voting down substantive changes to the platform language that was written at the direction of Romney’s campaign.”
Cooper said that Schultzs fundraising e-mail had ripped this quote out of context to claim, The Los Angeles Times reported yesterday that the platform was, and I quote, written at the direction of Romney’s campaign.”
Cooper also points out that Romney has often stated that he supports abortion in cases of rape, whereas Schultz has argued that he opposes all abortions. When asked if she knew that Romney has expressed his support for the exception, Schultz responds, I can certainly acknowledge that he says that out loud, but adds, I think its very clear that Mitt Romney talks the talk, but doesnt walk the walk.
Cooper concludes the debate saying, My only point is that and again its my job on both sides of the aisle to point out things that are inaccurate in a fundraising e-mail to misquote something to serve your argument just doesnt seem in the long term to serve your argument very well.
I understand your point, responds Schultz, but the balance of the e-mail makes the case very clearly, and the main thrust of the information were trying to convey is that Mitt Romney is disingenuous when it comes to a womans right to make her own reproductive choices, and hes extreme.
Dont worry Debbie
Willard is as abortion-on-demand as you would want him to be...
Dems are so infrequently called on their endless lies that she had no idea how to deal with the situation.
One word leaps to mind: Skank!
That is it for me. I need no more evidence that we are living in the "End Times" than this.
She was just confused that Cooper wasn’t going along with the liberal talking points because he has been such a loyal parrot in the past.
After the interview, I’m sure that an upset Schultz said to her company:
What a faggot!
EVERYBODY dislikes Wasserman-Schultz! Even AnderCoop! This chick has been as destructive to the Democratic Party as any single politician other than Obamatollah...
Maybe Anderson is afraid of his ratings and knows Little Debbie loves to tell lies.
This is second time that an anchor from CNN has gone
after Wasserman-Schultz.Wolf Blitzer hammered her
a couple of weeks ago.
Keep her on t.v. She is worse than Pelosi for the Dems and that is pretty BAD.
Akin's remark did not cause the economic crisis our nation is in. Obama did.
Akin's remark did not cause the rising unemployment rates. Obama did.
Akin's remark did not cause 1 in 6 Americans to end up in the poverty level. Obama did.
Akin's remarks did not add five trillion dollars to our national debt over the last 3.5 years. Obama did.
Akin's remark has not gutted our military. Obama did.
Akin's remark did not cause ANY of the problems we have in this country and damn it... We need to stop letting the friggin lib-tards divert our attention away from what's killing our nation... OBAMA and his record.
Thanks, “Coop,” but we can fight our own battles. We don’t want you to risk breaking a nail ...
She is a special kind of stupid.
Oh My! DNC Chair and Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultzs Approval Rating Below 15%
Folks like Anderson need to do this everynow and then to Dems in order to maintain the illusion of credibility.
