FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – With hundreds of human cases of the West Nile Virus being reported across Texas and more than a dozen related deaths in North Texas it seems some people are overreacting and calling 911 when they’re bitten by a mosquito.

One woman called Fort Worth 911 requesting assistance because her young nephew had a bump on his arm.

911 should only be called if McDonald’s runs out of McNuggets.

911 should only be called if McDonald’s runs out of McNuggets.

Or when someone steals your weed.

True, and opinions here are running all over the map. Some people wonder why it took so long to start aerial spraying, others complain that spraying will "poison the environment" and damage quality of life.

There is a serious outbreak around here and often some common sense isn't exercised.

Yeah, I use a deet formula, but I do get bit once in awhile. Symptoms of the westnile would send me to the doctor.

There are annual West Nile and EEE outbreaks where I live and the vociferous opposition to spraying began to decline after there were a number of fatalities (including kids) from EEE.

But there's still a segment of the population that complains about spraying. They seem to care more about the butterflies than their own neighbors.

That sounds OK until it hits your family then it gets very scary. We live in FW and my wife got it in mid July. It took her a little over 3 weeks to fight it off. Because it's a virus all you can do is ride it out and take antibiotics to prevent other infections. Temps up to a 104 at times are not fun to watch in a loved one.

Lucky they’re not in GA. Here the mosquitoes just carry you away and feast on you later. No one ever knows where you disappeared to or why!!!

I hope your wife has fully recovered by now. My daughter had some of the symptoms of a mild case of West Nile. Headache for days, body aches and a low grade fever. She didn’t go to the doctor but is better now with just bed rest. I wonder if a mild case would give you immunity at least for a while?

I would be calling them like 20 times in 20 minutes.

But I’m starting to wonder if I should start to worry about West Nile.

Freaking mosquitoes love me long time.
