What will the Democrats do in a region flooded with Republicans? - "Prove Dems are in FL"
St. Petersburg - Tampa Bay Times ^ | August 25, 2012 | John Woodrow Cox

Posted on 08/25/2012 2:35:59 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

...... Soon, tens of thousands of Republicans will descend upon Tampa Bay, but this area's Democrats say they aren't going anywhere. Their schedules are packed: protests, rallies, vigils, press conferences, a visit from the vice president and even a secret-but-not-so-secret "counter-convention."

"We don't want to ruin the convention for delegates," said Ella Coffee of the Hillsborough County Democratic Party, which opened its Tampa campaign office Thursday night. "We just want to be able to have a conversation."

Preparation for that conversation starts today with a protest training session in Tampa. The Code Pink-organized gathering, which many area Democrats are expected to attend, will teach people how to demonstrate without violence, talk to reporters and use social media. Attendees also will practice songs, chants and dance moves.

The education will prepare Democrats for daily protests that begin today in St. Petersburg and a march Sunday during the convention's kickoff party at Tropicana Field. Hillsborough Democrats also have promoted a bevy of events for the week, including a "celebration of resistance" on Monday night, a rally against voter suppression on Tuesday evening, and, on two days, the alliteratively named "Rally Against Romney."

.....Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz will be on hand to help kick things off.

Vice President Joe Biden had planned to visit Tampa on Monday to counter the GOP message. He postponed the trip Friday to ensure that all local law enforcement and emergency management resources can stay focused on Tropical Storm Isaac.

.......Chris Radulich, a 64-year-old from Apollo Beach who says he likes the heat, planned to attend at least one rally or march every day of the convention.

Why?

"The primary thing is, first of all," he paused to consider the question, "to prove there are Democrats in Florida."

The RNC should put up those HUGE screens and show the 2016 movie outdoors to the protestors.

TEACH how to demonstrate without violence? Amazing admission in print.

In 2000, Medea Benjamin ran for U.S. Senate in California on the Green Party ticket and Marla [Ruzika] became her fundraiser. For the campaign, Benjamin produced the booklet I, Senator, her delusion of grandeur fantasizing the day she and other Green legislators would establish a socialist state following a series of grave national emergencies.
In November 2000, Benjamin, Marla [Ruzika] and a third Green Party activist were arrested when they tried to crash a Democratic Party campaign event and force Senator Dianne Feinstein into a public debate.
Weeks later, Marla [Ruzika] was in Florida as a Green Party accredited election observer, where she lamented the dearth of street protesters supporting Al Gore and told the World Socialist Website that Republicans “should be on the terrorist lists.” ------- "Who Killed Marla Ruzicka?--A cautionary tale for our times.," by David Horowitz and Ben Johnson, FrontPageMagazine.com, May 3, 2005

As you can see, the same folks [Code Pink] who disrupted an earlier democrat convention are hired by Democrats to disrupt a republican convention this coming week. This is Liberal logic.

Preparation for that conversation starts today with a protest training session in Tampa. The Code Pink-organized gathering, which many area Democrats are expected to attend,

Recall that Code Pink is the group which provided funding for the al Qaeda insurgency in Fallujah, Iraq, and had arranged for a Democrat to deliver it.

will teach people how to demonstrate without violence,

That worked out really well when Code Pink and their gun-toting fellow "demonstrators", the Turkish terror group IHH, attacked Israelis that were coming aboard to inspect their boat for arms, when the IHH and Code Pink were trying to run the naval blockade of Gaza.

TEACH how to demonstrate without violence? Amazing admission in print.

It is particularly telling just which group- Code Pink- the Democrats have chosen to "instruct" them in "nonviolent" protesting, and who the Code Pink folks are allied with :

[Code Pink's Jodie] Evans is currently a Board of Directors member for the Rainforest Action Network (RAN), a coalition of anti-capitalist, anti-corporate environmentalist groups. RAN’s co-founder Michael Roselle also founded the Earth Liberation Front, which the FBI ranks alongside the Animal Liberation Front as the foremost domestic terrorism threats in the United States. According to the FBI, during the past seven years those two groups have been responsible for more than 600 criminal acts and $43 million in damages…------ http://tinyurl.com/yf5tlef , 28 posted on Monday, November 02, 2009 12:01:00 PM by kcvl

Organizers say 5,000-person march set for RNC first day - respect “diversity of tactics” ……..”Asked whether the march will try to prevent anyone from, for example, breaking windows or throwing rocks, march leader Jared Hamil said, “If they break the law, well, it’s the law. Whatever the law says.”

But Hamil declined to criticize groups that might not follow organizers’ plans for a peaceful march with a permit from the city.

“I’m not here to say that anything is a problem,” he said. That’s because the coalition has adopted a brief set of guidelines, “The Tampa Bay Principles,” that emphasize respect “for the diversity of tactics” and a commitment to keeping criticisms of other activists internal to the movement.”……

Correction of my above comment: I don't know for a fact that the Democrat Party hired them, the article only says "democrats are expected to attend."

I do know Democrat officials have in the past and no doubt will continue to help them by providing credentials and passes to events that enable them to disrupt said events.

“We just want to be able to have a conversation.”

Attempting to disrupt the RNC is like your jerk neighbor wanting to talk about your “issues” during your child's birthday party.

Rude & inconsiderate. Low class / No class behavior.

I hope Issac drenches the protesters, over & over. We can expect Debbie “rat's nest” Shultz to have an especially bad hair week.

It's gonna be amusing, if not tragic.

Prepare now. The democrats will take election fraud to a new level and then ask to the courts to endorse it all. Mark my words. It is the plan. Why else would they have hundreds of Progressive attorneys waiting in the wings?

No doubt the city of Tampa & the RNC have contingency plans for the storm. I'm not so sure about loosely organized protesters.

The out-of-town protesters have no idea what they may be in for. If the power goes off in Tampa, misery will quickly descend on the unprepared. Curfew will probably be imposed, dusk to dawn. Police have wide latitude during & after a storm to insure public safety. Stressed & exhausted, they will deal harshly with any perceived violence. The storm puts people in a bad mood. Protesters will get little sympathy from locals.

There will be NO restaurants to eat in, no open stores to buy food, & a stifling, pitch dark motel room to sleep in.

Obama may have to send the National Guard to evacuate the desperate protesters. That is, those that are not in jail.

These fools may be walking into the perfect storm of bad weather, unhappy locals, & a city under emergency powers; & they don't have a clue.

Oh brother. They proved that there are democrats in Florida when they helped the 4 years of heck we are going through. They proved that there are Democrats in Florida in 2000 when they almost won the election. We know that there are Democrats in Florida but hopefully the Republicans can smarten up and make Florida Red again.

“TEACH how to demonstrate without violence? Amazing admission in print.”

A muscular black at my gym had been hired and trained by the SEIU to attend, among other things, Glen Beck’s 9/11 protest. The gym rat told me that there would be no violence, but a quick review of the training revealed he had been taught to “get in people’s faces and scream at them.” I said, “so you scream while in their face. What response are you expecting?” Apparently, the training hadn’t covered that. “Now, let’s say you do this to an old man. What if he hits you?” He was hesitant but decided he could defend himself. I explained to him that he had committed assault and if the old man died it would be second degree murder or manslaughter.

I never saw him after that as he moved to the DC area so his cadre would be within easy bus reach of where the SEIU needed them. He told me he had to take this job as it was more money than he’d ever made.

Let ‘em protest.

I’ve never thought highly of the intelligence level of most lefties, but I used to think that at least a few at top were smart (but evil). Now I question even that. This makes them look pathetic, desperate, and obnoxious. How is that going to help them? Sure, there will be some sympathizers who will think “Yeah, stick it to the Republicans.” But most people, even lefties, will recognize this as obnoxious bullying.

Unless there is some far more sinister purpose, I fail to see how this helps them. Maybe they are hoping if they stir the pot enough at least one deranged lefty will try to assassinate Romney or Ryan. Or maybe they realize they are losing and this is the equivalent of trashing the place out of spite.
