Ohio doctor helps perpetuate rape pregnancy ideas

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The discredited notion that a woman's body can resist conception in a sexual assault has persisted in anti-abortion circles for decades, largely because of the efforts of a Cincinnati obstetrician who is considered a godfather of the movement.

Dr. John C. "Jack" Willke founded the National Right to Life Committee and wrote the influential 1971 "Handbook on Abortion," which has shaped the thinking of generations of anti-abortion activists.

I’m not convinced comparing women rape victims to zoo animals will help get rid of Akincare.

A lot of them are Noobs. I’d never thought I’d see the day when Christians are ridiculed at FR like they are at the DU.

I think something psychological happened to ABOs when they finally decided to support Romney. (Allowing that some of them always were secret Mitt-bots.)

I think they discovered that it was easier to go with the cultural flow and become new-age republicans along with Coulter, Andrew Sullivan, et al. They could then argue for fiscal responsibility and jettison social issues under a libertarian premise of “every man do what he wants.”

The terrible thing about that is the clear indication that cultural strength leads to financial strength leads to military strength.

They are contributing to the undermining of the USA, and the result will be a socialism that MUST lead to a dictatorship, because a nation of government dependents ARE serfs who don’t work.

The powers that be must recognize at some point that they can’t have that. They will then acquire special powers that enable them to force work out of the serfs, and then they will both the bosses and the rulers.

It is inevitable.

> there are two practical political reasons why not to allow these exceptions:

And there is ONE imperative reason to not even whisper that you would even consider removing these exceptions:

Because you would destroy you and your party’s chance of EVER being elected.

the only "vaginal scraping" I know of is a D&C, which IS an abortion

Didn't want to consult your link, but technically I think a D&C is uterine scraping.

Yes, you are correct! I’ve never heard of a “vaginal scraping” before.. so maybe they used the wrong word.

Seems we have an infestation of CINOs going on around here.

The fact that many here claim to be Christians but are more interested in monetary policy than protecting life and maintaining traditional family values tells me that the "C" stands for Christian.

When Americans are more concerned for the wallets than the relationship of America to the creator, then we will follow the path of all nations who abandoned God for Mammon.

For too many this is ONLY about issues like Obamacare and taxes and saving their material investments. They are not too concerned about saving their souls or whether America is under God's grace.

America, America God shed His Grace on Thee.

Why should he?

It may be “discredited” but it is effectively true. The body doesn’t “fight it off” but unless ovulation has occurred just prior to a forcible rape, the extreme tension in the victim shuts down the process and ovulation is considerably delayed.
Pregnancy as a result of traumatic rape is much less likely than pregnancy resulting from consensual sex.

Pure and simple, Akin was supported throughout the primary by Claire McCaskill, she was constantly running ads pimping Akin. There were a lot of Democrat cross over voting. Obamacare is a big deal for me, bBECAUSE of the abortion funding in it. The main 3 republican candidates had double digit leads over Claire, but Akin’s margin was the smallest. Since his comments, he has lost over 20 points, and Claire is up by 10 points. I refuse to stand behind a guy who is obiviously not able to articulate a simple thing such as “I don’t support abortion under any circumstances.”
Bottom line for me is this, Akin is toast, at least here ihn my area of Missouri (very rural, google Edina and Hurdland if you want to know). I would rather have a candidate that has a chance of taking down Claire than go down in flames defending a moron who is losing a can’t lose race.

The absolute fact that everyone is failing to report in this whole debate is the number of abortions that occur due to rape. Isn’t that what the whole argument is about? whether a woman should be allowed to get an abortion if she gets pregnant after a rape? Shouldn’t we be able to determine from abortion statistics how frequently women get an abortion citing rape as the reason? Look it up. Rape accounts for.5 to1% of all abortions. Rare enough?

Maybe the idea of vaginal scraping is to remove semen from the vagina, as a douche would do also.

The problem isn’t the semen, it’s the sperm. If the woman is in her fertile phase, they will swim through the cevical mucus and into the uterus within minutes, leaving the seminal fluid behind.

By the time a woman can seek medical attention, it’s too late. Willke was off-base then, and his beliefs are shaped by his passionate opposition to abortion.

Another statistic I saw a few years ago is that the ration of women who were raped and prefer to keep their babies is high. That attitude causes a number of forced abortions as it is the families, boyfriends/etc. who demand that the rape victim abort. The attitude of a fair percentage of the victims is that they must not commit a second evil act to avenge the first.

oral and anal sodomy do not result in pregnancy.

There are all sorts of sexual assault that are “rape”.

Statutory rape is criminal but often consensual (with one or both parties being unable to legally provide consent).

Coital rape is a subset of all rape. Perhaps that is what he meant by “legitimate rape”.

Whoopi Goldberg didn’t get half the flak from Feminazis when she went on ABC television and said that Roman Polanski wasn’t guilty of “rape rape” when he drugged and sodomized a 13 year old girl. Obviously this was a good enough argument for Barack Obama as his administration let Roman Polanski walk.

The Democrat war on women continues.

Incest is either rape or consensual (two adults, two minors...).

When the Left says things like homosexuality is about consenting adults in private and then cut loose pervert Democrat politicians who received oral sex from persons under 18 at a roadside rest stop it isn’t about ADULTS or PRIVATE. Neither is indoctrinating kindergarteners in the notion of same sex “partner” relationships and fifth graders in the notion of oral and anal sex. Instructing CHILDREN in PUBLIC schools.

They claim that abortion should be “safe, legal, and rare” but have no moral argument for why it should be “rare” since it isn’t a life and protect Planned Parenthood which despite the legality of abortion continues to botch abortions (sometimes fatally) and practice unlicensed work. Planned Parenthood also coerces minors to lie about the nature of their pregnancy so the criminal investigators never get involved in statutory rape (and prostitution) cases. So much for legal.

So when the term “rape and incest” is tossed out there, I question it as well. Sounds good, but basically it comes down to rape. Everything else is consensual (with an ick factor).
