losing the senate will make things that much harder
I think you are right.
LOL! I love it!
If you are pro-life and live in Missouri, I see no alternative for you than to vote for Akin no matter what the Republican establishment says.
Vote your conscience and let the chips fall as they may. If Missouri is a predominantly Christian state (which I believe you are) then Akin will beat McCaskill. If not, then the individuals who voted for him can have a clear conscience, and the rest of them can have hot coals heaped on their heads for letting an evil person like Claire McCaskill take your state to hell.
Just like NOT voting for Romney in the presidential election is a vote for Obama, the same is true for Missouri. A no-vote or write-in or 3rd party vote is a vote for McCaskill.
We had four great candidates for our Senate primary here in Wisconsin. I wanted ANY ONE of them other than Tommy Thompson. Guess what? Tommy won. I now have a Tommy Thompson for Senator on my lawn next to my ROMNEY/RYAN sign. I will do anything to help Tommy beat the evil Tammy Baldwin (who is LEFT of Nancy Pelosi) win that seat. Tammy has HUGE LGBT groups backing her hoping to make her the first openly gay U.S. women senator. Over my dead body. I will crawl over broken glas to help Tommy win. And then hopefully the Tea Party candidates can get in slowly over the next 2 to 6 years.
Dont throw away the entire Senate because of stubbornness. Swallow your pride, and take baby steps to help take back Missouri and the U.S.A.
Maybe you and other conservatives thinking of running for office haven't figured out an even bigger reality than the faux concern you mention: The GOP apparatus is set up to seek and destroy any and all "real conservatives" whether they screw up or not. The GOP grudgingly support conservatives with a sterling record of impeccable character and intellect.
One thing you should realize is the bar is set really high for conservatives- in the GOP and even more so in the media and throughout society. That's reality. So supporting a guy that has failed to clear that bar is unproductive. I know it isn't fair. But life isn't fair. Akin screwed up and now he's dog meat. He and his supporters should wake up and realize that.
Most Conservatives want him to step down too.
Unfortunately, because Akin is a conservative, all of us conservatives and our movement will be blamed for any defeat that occurs in Missouri. The Republican Establishment will make sure of that.
