Todd Akin is a man unfit for the U.S. Senate, all sides seemed to agree this week, whipping themselves up into a sanctimonious fury over his foolish aside about female biology. We heard this week a lot about "insensitivity" to violence from establishment elites who blithely accept violence in the womb. We heard gasps about dangerously narrow definitions of "rape" from defenders of Bill Clinton (who surely appreciated Akin's "legitimate" distinction if no one else did) and from apologists for Roman Polanski, who, as Whoopi Goldberg once asserted, never engaged in "rape-rape."
And let's not forget that Barack Obama hired as one of his top Department of Education officials a gay-rights activist named Kevin Jennings, who once glibly counseled a "15-year-old" student thought to have been statutorily raped by an older man: "I hope you knew to use a condom." Jennings is also known for having been "inspired" by Harry Hay, a supporter of the North American Man Boy Love Association.
Don't expect Obama to receive any questions from the press about these views of his first "Safe Schools Czar." No, outrage in this culture is restricted to those deemed unenlightened in the nuances of avant-garde morality. According to its porous scorecard, Christianity is bad for women while Islam is good for them. Pro-life countries receive scoldings from Hillary Clinton, while the one-child policy of China, which kills female infants, isn't "second-guessed" by this administration, as Joe Biden put it on a visit.
In a culture that panders to pro-abortion feminists like Sandra Fluke, thought crimes always rank higher than real ones. Words, not deeds, drive pols from public life. So Akin has to go. He simply harbors the wrong thoughts and no apology will be sufficient from him until he changes his position on abortion.

Ping!
The double standard is amazing. Ted Kennedy can drive a woman off a bridge and leave her there to die, and he’s a great statesman. Al Franken can cheat his way to office and be an incompetent clown, but nobody criticizes him. Biden can say dumb and inflammatory things every day, and he’s treated like a kindly old uncle. However, if a Republican says one dumb thing (and the rape comment was pretty dumb!), and he is never forgiven, but hounded out of public life.
Odd that Democrats seem to be made of tougher stuff than Republicans. Republicans don’t seem to fight back.
There was a post on FR which explained the meaning of Akin’s remark about a woman’s body having some protection against pregnancy resulting from rape. I won’t remember them all, but here’s a partial list:
A woman can conceive only 3 days out of each month; some women are on the pill; some women are either too young or too old to conceive; some have had surgery to prevent conception; and some rapists prematurely lose their seed. All of which reasons are ignored by the press which is controlled by the libs.
So Akin was right when he said a woman’s body had certain protection about becoming pregnant through rape, but the Republicans are not defending him.
The conversation should be about the totalitarian , anti-1st amendment actions of Menino, Emanuel and Lee. Akin’s comment was at worst a stupid opinion; the mayors of Boston, Chicago and San Francisco have relegated totalitarian powers to themselves, but all Romney did was back off from the fight, despite the massive grass-roots mobilization that Chick Fil- a demonstrated.
I’m not understanding the “shutting down” part; you can’t have an abortion if you’re not pregnant. So if no conception has taken place because the “woman’s body has shut down, “ then the point is moot. On the other hand, is the victim not supposed to go for medical intervention, but rather wait to see if a pregnancy test two weeks later is positive?
Democrats/Leftists/Progressives/Socialists do not consider honor as a virtue.
Republicans/Conservatives/Capitalists do, at least most of them. It is those not in the most that cause the problems for the rest.
Ted should have died in the wreck. No doubt his god saved him.
somewhat sums up my own position...not that mine or any other blowhard here matter much except holdonnow who does have a real audience
speaking of talk radio..80% wobbly would be my guess just listening
What is most important to consider is the way the Obama Media will use (and IS USING) this issue to aid Obama and to damage all republicans and conservatives, especially Romney.
Sometimes, when fighting the good fight, you have to make a choice between winning the battle at hand or winning the long war.
Once you win the war you can get right a wrong in legal and ethical ways.
It’s the mentality. Winning at all costs often means aborting the inconvenient and sometimes the inconvenient are those of your own party.
