California state legislators passed a bill Friday that seeks to protect undocumented immigrants charged with relatively minor crimes from being deported.

The bill, by Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, D-San Francisco, would prohibit local police from detaining anyone on an immigration hold if the person is not charged with or has not been convicted of a serious or violent crime.

The bill, which only needs the signature of Gov. Jerry Brown to become law, passed the Assembly on Friday after being amended in the state Senate to remove language that would have required police departments to develop plans to guard against racial profiling.

So amnesty was passed. I must have missed it being discussed and voted on in Congress.

Legal precedent has been established: only the Federal Government can establish and enforce immigration law.

I expect to see holder file an injunction on Monday Morning.

(do I need the /sarc?)

How long before the mother*^%$s in Sacramento pass a law entitling illegal aliens with the property of US citizens?

The serious crime Mr Ammiano is that the person is an ILLEGAL who has broken the law by sneaking into this Country against our laws..

Every cop down there should go out on a medical retirement and walk away from that lost state. Let those lib bastards drown in their own sewer.

Good. Let’s encourage as many illegal immigrant as possible to move to California, Oregon, Washington and any other liberal state that wants to give them drivers licenses, welfare and food stamps. Then when those states beg for other states to bail them out, just sat “sorry”.

If I lived in the dead state of California, I’d already be packed and on my way to Texas.

I love some of your beaches, there are some beautiful places and the weather can be great, but I flat could not and would not be able to live with the human sewer scum that walks around down there.

It’s official. Illegals now have more rights than you do.

Problem is, when CA goes bankrupt, the cancer spreads...and the crimaliens use the CA license to get a new license in a new state.

I live in the lib state of Washington and I am perfectly okay with that. The sooner these lib states completely die, the better off we are going to be.

Fortunately for me, I live 3 hours to the west of Seattle and seldom ever go there and only when I must. Most of the folks around me are conservative and those that aren’t are shunned.

I live 3 hours to the west of Seattle...

The coast is only 100 miles west of the city. Does it take that long to get there?

I was sent to Seattle for a week several years ago. The second night I discovered Elliott's Pier. Ate there every night till I left. Man, that was some fine seafood!

Sad, we now have to protect ourselves from a foreign nation to the south and one on the west!

Ammiano would marry Harvey Milk if he could.

All the democrats in the State Assembly and Senate are either thralls, in the pocket of or subservient to; the public employees unions, the environmental lobby and our brown brothers from across the border.

But the weather's great, Pete's is serving coffee, Safeway's shelves are stocked, and the husband - if he works in hi-tech- still has a decent job, so no grumbling amongst the Katie Couric wanna-be's yet.
