Former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist endorsed President Barack Obama in an op-ed in The Tampa Bay Times on Sunday. Touting the president for serving as the “nation’s calm,” Crist, now a registered independent, decried the GOP’s shift to the “extreme right.”
POLITICO noted that while the move isn’t a shock, the interesting aspect is related to “ongoing rumors about Crist running for governor again, only as a Democrat.” While he doesn’t make any mention of a run in the op-ed, ” if Obama wins Florida, this would be a handy thing for Crist, whose original consulting team is with Romney, to point to having done – and supporting the Democratic president is sort of a half-measure toward announcing as one himself.”

Good. It’s really important that we expose and eliminate all ‘plants’ from the party. The Republican party is much more to the left now than it has ever been, yet the ideologues on the left call the party ‘extreme’. What this really shows is how incredibly extreme the left has become. JFK would fit much more into the Republican party of today than into the extreme party that the democrats have become.
Maybe Crist wishes to take Biden’s place on the DemocRAT ticket? I wouldn’t put it past Obama to try something like that.
It’s OK, if he ran for POTUS as the GOP nominee in 2016, he would still get votes from people talking about how he’s better than a Democrat.

I write news for radio, and by sheer coincidence, I was reading some background on Crist just last week. It was for a story about Todd Akin on how the NRSC had backed other candidates instead of the conservative. The quote I found from a few years back was from John Cornyn, explaining why Crist was the best GOP choice for Senate and how Rubio would have other opportunities in the future. Thank God voters were smarter than that and gave Rubio his opportunity right then.
The same story mentioned that conservatives who disagreed with Cornyn said that if Crist were in the race, the Democrats wouldn’t even have to bother to field a candidate. And now, we see just how true that was.
Anybody who would endorse Obama at this point is needing to be locked up in a nuthouse.
