Brawley CA (southeast CA) has been having swarms the last day or two. The last one was about an hour ago at 4.9. Brawley has had earthquakes in the past that have been sizeable and done major damage. I live about 100 from there. I know there is no such thing as earthquake season...but still...

The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting that a strong magnitude-7.4 earthquake has struck off the coast of El Salvador and a tsunami warning has been issued.

The earthquake was located 86 miles (138 kilometers) south-southwest of San Miguel, the USGS reported on its web site.

The temblor took place at a depth of 32.9 miles (53 kilometers).

A tsunami warning is in effect for Costa Rica, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Panama and Mexico.

I bet all of the HAARP theorists will be coming out of the woodwork now with a shifting storm right into NOLA, massive earthquake, possible tsunami, earthquake swarms in So.Cal, all taking place the week of the RNC.

Paging Alex Jones

Regarding the current unusual California earthquake swarm :

Dr. Lucy Jones, USGS Seismologist said that there had not been a swarm like this since the 70s and before that the 30s. It will take them a day or two to get a better read on this unusual swarm because the earth is a different soil, different mix which makes it difficult to get an accurate reading.

If you wish to be removed from the Earthquake Ping List or added to it, please FReepmail me.

. . . "What we're seeing is a classic Brawley seismic swarm,'' USGS seismologist Lucy Jones told City News Service. "We haven't seen one of these since the 1970s, and there was another one back in the 1930s.''

< Snip >

Jones said USGS seismographs and analysis computers were overwhelmed by the rash of rattling that began at sunrise, and reached a crescendo with a magnitude 5.3 quake just after 12:30 p.m. It was followed by a 4.9 shaker within two minutes.

"Our system is choking on so many earthquakes,'' Jones said. "This area of California is deep soils, and we do not get as precise data as we do over the rest of the state, and that makes our data a little less precise.''

Fairly deep and a ways offshore. Baring a massive tsunami, the damage hopefully is limited.

Whoa, LOL! Relax a little. You missed my entire point as well as the story.
Just try to write at least a smitten of information. Or if you can't write,
copy and paste something more than just a title, something with a little info to accompany
your hurry to be first.

Meanwhile feel proud, you're number one.

Yeah, I know what you mean! :)

From CBS:

(CBS News) A 7.4 magnitude earthquake hit 78 miles off the coast of El Salvador early Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey says.

No tsunami warnings were issued, and the temblor's epicenter was deep beneath the ocean's surface, the USGS says.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injurires.

There was a report of someone feeling the quake in San Salvador, the USGS adds.

I recommend everyone stay alert up for at least the next 3 - 4 days. Be glad you're a prepper for those that are!

A 5.4 in the Gulf off Rocky Point... that’s getting a little too close to home! Gonna take some valuables off the shelves before I go to bed, because we shook during the 7.2 in Mexicali a couple years back.
