My guess is that hardball is not his favorite show. But then, you were just trying to be clever. Fail.

Sometimes it is helpful to leave the echo chamber and see what the other side is saying. Then we are better able to form our argument to defeat theirs. I have been watching what the RATS have been doing with the Akin issue across the country. It is going to be a sickening display using the issue at their convention. It is a tragedy that they were given this early Christmas gift as an issue to sidestep the real issue. The winning issue for our side is the economy. Don’t get me wrong. Pro-life may be the defining issue of our time. But we can’t advance the position if we don’t have the political power to do so. That means winning the majority of seats. Missouri was a pickup that has been blown.

And here’s the thing: Akin just keeps it up, and keeps it up. He was on with Charlie Brennan (KMOX, St. Louis, that’s in Missouri, where I live and vote) today, and of course this topic was discussed and Akin said he doesn’t even support a woman getting emergency contraception in the immediate aftermath of a rape.

C’mon people....I’m a pro-life, homeschooling Mom of five (and Grammy of one), I live in Missouri, I know who Todd Akin is, I know the political landscape around here fairly well. This does not fly with mainstream American women at all, ok? And that is who the candidates have to convince. Not conservative purists. The women I know consider him a laughingstock.

I get that he said sorry, but sometimes there needs to be penance along with contrition in order to set things right. In this case he would have done us all a favor if he had put his own desires (or whatever drives him) aside, sacrificed his candidacy for the greater (pro-life, conservative)good, and let one of the other conservative, pro-life candidates take his place.

He said sorry, and I forgive him, but I won’t send him any money and I won’t vote for him because in my opinion he is unfit to represent me and unfit to lead. I won’t vote for Claire either. I’m still hoping he’ll do the right thing and step aside.

And those of you who keep arguing on Akin’s behalf, I don’t think you do him any favors by being vitriolic and hateful, and I see a lot of that on FR and most of it is from people who don’t even live in this state. Stop and consider that you may just not have all the information that Missourians, esp. those of us in the greater St. Louis area, have.
