Romney's storm-delayed convention limps into motion

Forget the loud music, cheering crowds and funny hats. Instead of opening with a bang as originally planned, Mitt Romney's Republican convention started with a whimper on Monday as party leaders staged a low-key session while Tropical Storm Isaac churned through the Gulf of Mexico.

The tone was deliberately subdued after Isaac led Republicans to scrap most of their first day's schedule in Tampa, complicating plans to showcase Romney to voters as the presidential candidate heads into a 10-week sprint to his November 6 election battle against Democratic President Barack Obama.

Sunshine broke through the clouds in Tampa as the host city, on Florida's Gulf Coast, avoided the brunt of Isaac. But a destructive landfall farther north later in the week - possibly at hurricane strength and hitting the Louisiana coast - threatened to create a split screen of TV coverage between the storm and the convention.

Gee Reuters whoring for the Democrat propaganda machine again. And they wonder why no one takes them serious as a news organization now

“Limps” into motion??? Gotta love the our own version of Pravda doing its best to spin this against the enemy of the state (aka Romney).

Political conventions are a waste of time and money. It seems unlikely that either party will ever have another contested race for the nominations, so conventions are anachronisms in the current political climate. If they can’t be eliminated altogether, they should not last more than two days.

Looks like the GOP convention without Sarah Palin is going to be a wet blanket affair.

The media is just SALIVATING at the idea of making this convention a dud. ... except the weather has NOTHING TO DO WITH WHATS AT STAKE WITH THE CONVENTION.

It’s like saying “will the drought stop Obama from speaking?”

GOP should have gone ahead as planned, that was unnecessarily cautious of them ... perhaps the real lesson. BE BOLD! Ignore the media!

That should read, “Obama’s Glorious Peoples Convention Illuminates the World.” You’re welcome for the help there.

Matt Spetalnick is an angry old hack, typical of Reuters -- nobody else will have him.

Wishful thinking on Al Reuters’ part.

Considering the MSM alphabet networks decided not to air the first of four nights’ convention converage, it was probably a move by the GOP to “save face” and still get the convention speeches all broadcast on tv.

I still can’t for the life of me, understand why the GOP picks a hurricane plagued region, during hurricane season, for their convention.
