Like Katrina, Isaac is due for Democrats' political spin
The Orlando Sentinel ^ | 8/28/2012 | William T Russell

Posted on 08/28/2012 4:28:05 AM PDT by Bill Russell

Tampa and the Republican convention seem to have dodged the initial impact of Tropical Storm Isaac. But the full impact of its political spin has yet to be felt.

Issac is building power over the Gulf of Mexico as I write this, and the power of the political spin builds as the storm approaches the landfall areas of Hurricane Katrina. While no one wishes for Isaac to follow the map track of Katrina, those living in its path need to prepare for the wind, rain and storm surges. Those following its political track need to brace for the impact of the political spin to follow the storm. Never a group to let a disaster go to waste, the Obama campaign is waiting to unleash the fury of its spin on the storm with a maximum of political effects.

It’s expected to be a Cat 1 at best.

For people there, that is just a heavy thunderstorm. I wouldnt be shocked if you see video of people walking by the shore just to see it.

I’m sure they will survive without that idiot’s “concern”.

are you kidding?

the idiot barack has Bobbie Jindal as a governor, not the blubbering incompetent Kathleen Blanco

after the winds die and the waters recede the idiot will personally take a staff of photographers down to the chocolate city to take pictures of him handing out water and backslapping Bobbie Jindal

However, if the storm hits and New Orleans is prepared, then we as conservatives can tout a new republican led Louisiana handled the storm like no previous admin had, and Bush’s cleanup measures and rebuilding measures worked. This is an easy one if we don’t play the media’s game

Even if Isaac turns out to be nothing but a beneficial rain for the drought-plagued Mississippi, Obama has already dispatched FEMA to hand out free VISA cards in New Orleans. The sales of flat screen TVs will go up, and everyone will be happy.

Of course, the msm will contrast Obama’s great leadership with Pres. Bush, who killed Blacks during Katrina.

This is really pathetic. The initial failure was at the local level. Plus the fact that the woman governor who was supposed to be in charge CRIED during the crisis. Jindal will show them how it's done, just as he did during the BP spill.

They forget that this time at least Louisiana has a competent Governor and we will just wait to see the outcome if for some reason Federal help is not needed and if it is, in a very limited role.

This wishing for catastrophe for political gain will come back to bite them in the a$$ as well.

I think Big Media and leftist freaks dishonestly ran with the eastern-most prediction model(s) as long as they could to influence/scare the conventioners as much as possible, and are now quietly celebrating their 25%+ reduction in time.

I've never heard so much hype over a tropical storm - its not even a hurricane!! My girlfriends mother got so worked up from all the news that she called to see if my parents (who live in FL) would be OK. Had to tell her not to worry, it's not a hurricane and it's no where near Ft. Lauderdale. You would think this thing was a cat 5 storm by the way the media is blubbering about it. I suspect they are hoping this tropical depression will hit just like Katrina so they can say what a fine job 0bama did compared to Bush (never mind the fact it's a far weaker storm). Flooding and storm surges could be a big issue, I know, lets hope no one looses life or property.

Naw, that was NOAA's doing. I live in Fort Myers FL, and for a while, it was "headed" for us, but I KNEW it would go out west, even though NOAA had it headed straight for me. Why? Because the two most reliable models had it headed out into the gulf, while the other few had it going east. NOAA averages out all the models to get the projected path. What they should do is weight the average more strongly in favor of the models which have shown themselves to be more historically accurate.

Maybe we will get to see if the George Bush Memorial Flood Gates at the lake end of the outflow canals that magically appeared within 6 months after Katrina will work.

That would be cool. What Jindal is actually doing, though, is asking for more and more Federal assistance.

P.S. You obviously have never been any where near a hurricane or you would realize that no state has the resources to cope with hurricane damage.

Jindal is amarter and more familiar with what's headed his way than you will ever be.

Well, I was responding to a post that suggested that Jindal should ask Obama to stay out of it. But, that’s not what Jindal is doing. Like you, Jindal wants Federal assistance. I just stated a fact. I didn’t offer an opinion as to whether Jindal should or should not be askIng for Federal assistance.

I've lived without electricity for three weeks after a hurricane.

I am not for big government but we saw what happened in NOLA when the governor refused federal help.

Jindal is smarter than all of you. Those of you who don't have a clue what you're talking about should just shut up.

I'm not talking about $$$ money given to people but MRE's and the manpower that's needed.

Wow, so Petraeus isn’t Hussein’s yes man?

All that pro-Hussein politics on The Weather Channel is my imagination?

How about Associated Press — they tell the truth and are really on America’s side?

All because you know a few people at the National Health Service?

I’m getting really sick of seeing conservatives defend the media, SOME media, and talk down to the rest of us for not drinking the koolaid.

No sale!

I watched Katrina get politicized and American lives lost just to try to hurt Bush and Republicans.

Leftist freaks opened the doors of hate and will never enjoy respect from me simply because a “conservative” at FR tells us that “the conspiratorial nonsense has to stop”

ON BOTH SIDES.

It’s the “ON BOTH SIDES” that bothers me the most.

Like you know best — FOR BOTH SIDES.

NOPE.

TWC is ***PWNED*** by Hussein and will say and do ANYTHING to protect/support him.

The hurricane model ploy by the freaks bought the time needed to hurt the Republican convention.

Time to stop buying and drinking the koolaid.

Still no sale.

I wont follow you with these tangents. The NHC is not "controlled" by the government like you are intimating. The previous head of the NHC was a global warming skeptic and a good man. Koolaid? I'll have none of it, from any side. Thank you, and good day.

My favorite comedy is when the MSM reporters are garbed in full storm gear and in the background you see folks strolling in shorts, t-shirts, and bathing suits.

“I’ve never heard so much hype over a tropical storm”

All because of the Republican convention.

Many of us remember the screaming anti-American leftists who got all worked up by an allegedly non-partisan weather service to hate Bush and Republicans during Katrina, while the leftists in NO were sabotaging their state to hurt Bush.

Anything goes and Americans are expendible in the leftists’ war on America.

CNN (which I haven’t watched for 5 years at least) is hysterical. Every one of the men have the vapors. It is time
to show what really happened with Katrina, W insisted Blanco let him in, was refused categorically, disaster struck as W tried to tell her, and Perry went and got the survivors and brought them to Texas. Those survivors have NOT gone back to NOLA.

Didn’t really care if it was a Weather service of some kind.... the OP wants to believe what they say and assume they don’t have an agenda.

Hahahaha, though I guess I should have searched on NHC and not NHS.

At any rate, I’ve usually discovered that it’s leftists and faux independents who like to TALK DOWN “to both sides”.

The OP believes that there are government agencies that haven’t been politicized despite evidence to the contrary, e.g. Katrina.

Wow, there really are a LOT of people who wouldn’t ordinarily vote Republican except for this time around.

I don’t see a lot of traditional Republican voters believing what they read/see on TV and telling people to shut up here.

But we ARE about tolerance....

And if you’d bothered to read and notice, instead of one-upsmanning, I HAVE been discussing the weather, and have managed to do so without telling anyone to shut up or leave.

“You calling me a leftist?”

You’ve posted a lie, suggested I should leave the thread, and now you’re trying to provoke me.

Because my opinion differs from yours, and I, like others here, are saying that weather reporting has been politicized by the left to hurt Republicans?

If you’re not a leftist, then perhaps you’re just an ultra right-winger who gives conservatives a bad name.

But as I said earlier, we need all types to defeat Hussein, even those who like to call themselves independent and bash posters here while alleging to talk down to “both sides”.

It was. Sister states’ pilots flew in from all over, bringing supplies and people to help. Folks from all over the nation came in to help with displaced pets. Huge relief centers were set up and staffed and supplied by locals. Merchants donated everything needed by the dislocated.
