DNC plans 2-hour Islamic prayer after rejecting blessing from Cardinal

The Democratic National Committee is raising a number of eyebrows after choosing to proceed with hosting Islamic “Jumah” prayers for two hours on the Friday of its convention, though it denied a Catholic cardinal’s request to say a prayer at the same event.

Watch the promotional video, via the Bureau of Muslim Affairs, which is partnering with the DNC for the event.

The first two minutes are rather dry, but around 2:04 a muezzin sings the call to prayer with an American flag background, and the video “picks up” considerably:

The Democrats are extremely open about their agenda. No one should be surprised by their actions. Ending the manned space program and reorienting NASA to Islamic outreach. Calling the Fort Hood shootings a “workplace incident”. Celebrating Ramadan while ignoring the national day of prayer. Supporting CAIR and the Islamic brotherhood. Filling the military and Homeland Security with Islamists. It is all pretty clear to me.

Obama is a islamic muslim - step by step he is ruining our country. I weep for the countless lives lost in wars defending our freedoms - only to be destroyed in four short years by this POS.

I heard on Laura Ingraham’s show this morning that the cardinal was going to say a prayer at the DNC confab as well. No?

Cardinal Dolan giving equal time to both parties, agrees to pray at Dem convention
By Lauren Green

Cardinal Timothy Dolan will end up giving equal time to both parties, agreeing give the closing prayer at the Democratic convention next week after making the same commitment for the Republicans.

When it was announced last week that Dolan had accepted the Republican National Convention invite, critics claimed it made it seem as if the Catholic Church was siding with the GOP.

Dolan, New York’s archbishop and president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, has led the battle for the church against President Obama’s so-called contraceptive mandate.

But his office confirmed Tuesday that he will give the benediction next week in Charlotte for the Democrats, after doing so at the Republican National Convention this week in Tampa.

In a statement released by the New York Archdiocese regarding the DNC invite, spokesman Joe Zwilling said, “It was made clear to the Democratic Convention organizers, as it was to the Republicans, that the Cardinal was coming solely as a pastor, only to pray, not to endorse any party, platform, or candidate. The Cardinal consulted Bishop Peter Jugis of the Diocese of Charlotte, who gave the Cardinal his consent to take part in the convention that will be taking place in his diocese.”

Even some left-leaning Catholics had been critical of Dolan’s initial move to pray at the GOP convention only. Michael O’Loughlin wrote in the a post for the website of America magazine, a Jesuit weekly, that “Cardinal Dolan’s appearance in Tampa will damage the church’s ability to be a moral and legitimate voice for the voiceless, as those who view the Catholic Church as being a shill for the GOP have just a bit more evidence to prove their case.”

At the same time, Dolan himself said he had made it known to the Democrats that he would also like to offer his ecclesiastical voice to their gathering as well.

When the DNC made no such offer immediately, many assumed it was a snub. The Catholic League’s Bill Donohue said: “The Republicans are smart enough to get the ‘pope of America’, and the Democrats are stupid enough not to invite him.”

Now that the Democrats have extended the invitation and Dolan has accepted,

One day the dems are going to find out that living under Sharia Law wasn’t worth uniting with muzzies in their shared hatred of Christianity.

My concern is that the dems must have something up their sleeves for November for a “win”. Otherwise, they just aren’t this stupid and arrogant to do these things! Are they?

The Dems tend to view Islamists as their allies, whereas Christian clergy, being generally conservative, are at least nuisances, at most enemies. The Dems are also all about touchy-feely we're-all-good-at-heart and we're-all-equal stuff. This means that from their point of view, hosting the Islamists is a good politically-correct way to show open-mindedness, while denying the Christian prayer is simply keeping an enemy from crashing their convention and not a political statement at all.

The Democrat base as a whole undoubtedly likes the idea of hosting the Islamic folks as part of their policy of outreach. As do many undecided voters. But many in both groups will see the glaring hypocrisy of their actions for what it is— if the story actually gets out. And therein is a serious problem- the media will fawn over the the DNC's open-mindedness for hosting the Islamists and sweep the Christian prayer thing under the carpet.

And yes, I also worry about what they might have up their sleeve as an October Surprise.

Hmmm looks like they’ll be hosting Cardinal Dolan after all. No doubt this is because some of their most voter-savvy advisors had an “oh-sh*t” moment when they realized how bad they looked

This moron is playing to 0.8% of the populace, and infuriating 99.2% of it.

Don’t let your head explode. Just enjoy watching everyone elses, once this guy follows through.

I think he’s shooting for 0.8% of the vote this election. I hope he meets his goal.
