Full title...Mexico police held for 'intentionally firing on armoured car carrying Navy captain and U.S. embassy staff'

Twelve Mexican police officers have been detained on suspicion of deliberately opening fire on an armoured car and wounding two U.S. embassy employees.

The incident has put a strain on U.S./Mexican relations and turned the spotlight back on serious problems inside Mexico's premier law-enforcement agency.

Officials offered sketchy accounts of the shooting that do not address the reason Mexican federal police opened fire on Friday on the vehicle, which had diplomatic licence plates and was carrying a Mexican Navy captain.

It is easy to see that there can never be a “proper government” according to your standards.

Why would we pull our ambassador when we have them in every nation in the world except N. Korea and Iran? Silly stuff but that is too be expected when one lives in the world of rhetoric rather than the real world.

What possible grounds for war exists between the U.S. and Mexico? Outside of the world of rhetoric, that is.

The father of my daughter’s new college roommate tried to tell me on Saturday that Mexico has more freedom than the US. Obviously, the rest of our first conversation didn’t go all that well...no prob, my kid’ll have his kid rightly minded before the semester’s out!

right, as if there is money or resources enough to fight what would then be a three-front war.

They are not able to control their drug compouding and selling and multiple killing that erupts into our nation to the extent that our government warns us off our lands as dangerous due to their being taken over by the kingpins.

A proper govenment would recall their ambassador as a sign that they had best clean up their rotting mess south of the border.

Your attempts at insult were not lost on me I just think you’re like millions of others with their heads stuck in the sand.

By the way, there are many nations that aren’t worth an embassy.

“What possible grounds for war exists between the U.S. and Mexico?”

Better grounds than 90% of the wars we’ve gotten in to!

Invasion, state sponsored.

Many of our citizens killed every day by Mexico’s citizens.

Attempt by their citizens to overthrow our government..’rule of law’

Anarchy

Theft of US services

RECONQUISTA

....to name a few

There is no “invasion”, at least according to standard definitions of the term. Nor is it state sponsored rather dangerous individual initiative. When one’s rhetoric is over the top it stops being effective.

Desperate people are not used by states as an invading force. Invasions are by military personnel.

None of your complaints, no matter how disturbing, are acts of war. We had our chance to take over Mexico and turned it down over 160 years ago.

International gangs are the source of the crime you are complaining about. They are not all Mexican by a long shot.

“Better grounds than 90% of the wars we’ve gotten into!” By my count we have been involved in 10 wars, only one was justified?

You need to catch up on reality. Mexico publishes books telling its citizens how to get here, how to abuse the legal system, collect benefits, you name it. It is indeed state sponsored. The rest of your pandering isn’t worth addressing. You know the facts, twist them to suit you.

The World of Rhetoric is a beautiful place filled with song birds and tasty fruits. All of us go there from time to time. Some try and live there.

As far as controlling the international drug cartels goes it is not a unique Mexican failure by a long shot. And you know the source of their power.

The Mafia operated with little check in this country for close to a century and has only been given pause after the passage of the RICO act forty yrs ago. It took a prosecutor like Rudy Guiliani (roundly hated here) to effectively use it to put thousands, that’s right THOUSANDS, of Mobsters behind bars.

These drug cartels almost always have more money than the police agencies and are better armed in many cases. Mexico has a more legitimate complaint against US in this matter than we them. After all it is the demand by US citizens for drugs which pours billions into these gangs coffers on a yearly basis. The Disaster giving them guns didn’t help matters either.

There have been thousands of brave Mexican police, military, reporters, prosecutors, Judges, even a Cardinal in the Roman Catholic Church killed by these gangs when they were threatened with exposure and prosecution. You literally take your life in your hands if you decide to take these gangs on.

There is no way this situation gets better if the U.S. stands aside or pulls its Ambassador.

Now we have an state sponsored “invasion” with books? Yeah, sure.

Of course, definitions are not important to those misusing words and concepts. Ignore them at all costs.

If you were in another country the U.S. government would not be sponsoring an invasion by telling you what rights you have there, would it?

It is our laws which give those people the rights claimed here. Put the blame where it belongs. Take away the sugar and the flies go away.

“right, as if there is money or resources enough to fight what would then be a three-front war.”

You are right, we should have “done Mexico” a long, long time ago! As for the ME, aside from Israel, it is not worth the life of one more American youth, or a penny from our treasury. It is the world’s Rectum and should be treated as such. Just a pile of sub-human excrement trying to live in the Fifth Century. Perhaps we can move the UN there so we don’t have the continuing stench of the place on our soil. It would fit right in!

The cartels are stronger than the central Mexican government and they’ve usurped the role of government for themselves.

Mexico is evil and crime and corruption ridden and has been since the state ran the Roman Catholic Church who were educating the masses out of their impoverished nation. Churches were destroyed, priests and nuns executed and the mass edicted illegal.

There’s a two-fold reason the majority of Mexicans are illiterate: their schools are very poor and their government is corrupt!

And one more thing:

There is only one way to eliminate the evil drug culture once and for all, because after all the market for narcotics is user driven.

The penalty for selling or using should be death, ala Singapore. No drug problem there.

Get real. They don’t even execute MURDERERS, multiple murderers even, in this country.

There are millions of users. Only Nazi Germany could kill that cavalierly. Singapore has never had freedom like America so it obeys rules much more willingly.

Americans have always prided themselves in NOT following the rules. Look at our love of gangsters, outlaws and organized crime.

Americans don’t even know American history much less Mexican.
Plus, the Leftist education establishment will not point out the anti-clerical Leftism which has been the driving force of Mexican politics since at least Juarez.

Mexico is a basket case but The Disaster was elected by America. It has little to brag about for smarts.

Right on!

The U. S. abetted the government that murdered priests and nuns!
